Please share this Special Edition Elephant's Ear with friends and neighbors.  The Texas House District 10 Runoff starts on September 20th with early voting and concludes on September 28th with in-person election day.  Only 2 days after this the Texas Legislature will start the third special session this year.  At the top of the agenda for this special session will be redistricting.  With Texas gaining two seats in congress this is bound to be a very contentious session.  The winner of this month's runoff will be in the middle of this fight with speculation of potential changes to our Congressional District 6 boundaries on the table.  If you want to have a say in who is going to Austin only 48 hours after the election, you need to get out and vote!
Included in this Special Edition is some exciting news regarding our October meeting.  With the Texas Motorplex hosting the Texas Fall Nationals from October 2nd through the 10th, we had to find an alternate location.  We are very fortunate in that our Vice Chair, Paula Anz and her husband JB own and operate The Vine Barn Event Center and invited us to hold our October 5th meeting there.  In addition to stepping up to offer this location, Paula coordinated with our newly elected state chair, Matt Rinaldi to be our guest speaker.  This promises to be a great meeting with County Clerk, Krystal Valdez presenting an overview of the County Clerk's office in addition to our executive committee meting and Chairman Rinaldi's presentation.
Please don't forget to check out the "EVIL IS POWERLESS IF THE GOOD ARE UNAFRAID" (Ronald Reagan) T-shirts and place your pre-order.  We will compile pre-orders and get this made well in time for the annual Texas Country Reporter Festival being held on October 23 in downtown Waxahachie.  This will be by far the largest event held downtown since we moved the county headquarters to a block off the square.
