URGE THE AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT TO SUPPORT INTERNATIONALLY AGREED CARBON EMISSIONS TARGETS
The IEPCP is writing to Federal Members of Parliament urging them to use their influence to get the Australian Government to agree and commit to the internationally agreed carbon emission targets at the upcoming Glasgow Conference of the Parties. This international conference is being held from October 31st to November 12th. As a health service, which understands the impact of climate change on health, we are well placed to advocate for preventive action on climate change, just as we have on other public health issues. But we must act now!
As we are reminded by The Lancet earlier this month following the release of the IPCC report on climate change “Mitigating climate change must be a priority for public health”.
We hope you will be part of this action.
- Join us in writing to the Federal MPs. Our letter is can be found on our website and you are welcome to adapt this for your own circumstances.
- Email your Federal Members with a simple request for them to support Australia commit to internationally agreed carbon targets
We would love to hear what action you take.
