“This far and no further…”
A Note from Pastor Mark
Greetings from Cannon Beach! Every year we are so thankful that the church sets aside some days to send the pastoral staff to the Ministry Refresh Conference here on the Oregon coast. It is a delightful time to rest, worship, reconnect with other pastors, and take in the Word. The refreshment helps renew our passion for ministry as we head into Fall.
For me, there is one extra bit of encouragement – I love to run on the beach at least once. The fresh air and the pounding surf remind me of God’s power. When I consider the greatness of His creation, it puts my life and ministry in perspective. A scripture comes to my mind when I run.
“Who shut up the sea behind doors when it burst forth from the womb, when I made the clouds its garment and wrapped it in thick darkness, when I fixed limits for it and set its doors and bars in place, when I said, ‘This far you may come and no farther; here is where your proud waves halt?’” (Job 38:8-11)
Did you catch the Lord’s point? He controls the ocean waves and their boundaries! That is our Lord! So, when things seem unmanageable and out of control in your life – remember that He has it in hand. Nothing is too great for Him.
