FRANCES  SEGELMAN  SCULPTS  SIR  SIMON  RATTLE

Guests were invited by Sir Jack Petchey and Frances Segelman Lady Petchey to a special evening of live sculpting, in the beautiful surroundings of the newly refurbished Garrison Chapel at London’s Chelsea Barracks.

Generously supported by The Prince's Foundation, the eminent sculptor, Frances Segelman, live sculpted the legendary conductor Sir Simon Rattle, in front of the guests.  The evening was held in aid of Help Musicians, and guests were treated to music by the royal harpist Catrin Finch with her ensemble, while Champagne and canapés were served.  Art from Highgrove adorned the walls and was spectacularly set off by Frances Segelman’s bronze sculptures of the Queen, Prince Philip, and Prince Charles.

Help Musicians, chaired by Graham Sheffield CBE, and led by CEO James Ainscough, was founded in 1921 by Sir Edward Elgar, Ralph Vaughan Williams, and other peers.  It supports musicians in times of crisis, to ensure they can sustain a career in music.  In 2020, exacerbated by the Pandemic, Help Musicians supported 19,000 music creators, and access to mental health services increased by 40%.

Help Musicians Ambassador, Sir Simon Rattle, is the world’s most renowned conductor, currently the Conductor Emeritus at the London Symphony Orchestra.  He describes music as a thrilling career, constantly striving to be the best, with unpredictable earnings which can leave some musicians with little to fall back on.  It is for this reason that he actively supports Help Musicians.
