From the desk of Pastor David

On Sunday, Pastor Dustin shared he’s stepping down as associate pastor to pursue other opportunities. I deeply appreciate Dustin’s heart over the last eight weeks as we’ve received soul care, spent time alone with Jesus, focused on our marriages, and worked through our issues with integrity, grace, and a commitment to do whatever Jesus asks of us. Because Oasis loves Dustin, Lori, Peyton, Colby, and Jeremiah, we’re praying for God to honor their family with a beautiful assignment. As we mentioned on Sunday, Dustin’s the final candidate for a position with a sister church across town. Though nothing’s final and Dustin could refuse any offer, I’m confident Dustin will receive a generous offer within the next few weeks. If he does, and if he accepts it, this position will be a promotion for him. I’m praying he gets it because he’s earned it and I’m confident his new church will fall in love with him quickly.

After the message this Sunday, our leaders will lay hands on Dustin and his family to pray for God to use them in their next assignment. You’ll also have an opportunity after the service to let Dustin and his family know how much they’ve meant to you over the past five years. Please join me in letting the DeJong family know how much they mean to us.

Since this Sunday is also the final Sunday for our worship intern, Hanna Davis, we’ll also lay hands on Hanna and her husband Jake and pray for their next assignment. We’re proud of the hard work Hanna’s done over the past seventeen months, including the brutal months of Zoom worship during COVID. Hanna’s done an outstanding job leading worship for us during this time and we’re proud of her. Please let Hanna know how much she’s meant to you, as well.

Don’t miss the early bird registration for Potter’s Wheel Retreat, October 15-17, 2021, at Holy Trinity Monastery in St. David. The cost is only $175/person if you register before the end of September. After that, the price will increase to $195/person. Potter’s Wheel Retreat is an inspiring opportunity to see how your story impacts you and why you struggle the way you do. It provides a safe place for personal transformation and intimate relationships to develop. Potter’s Wheel Retreat provides an opportunity for each of us to answer the question: “So, what’s God inviting me into?” Registration includes two nights lodging and six meals. To register or for more information, go here. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to explore God’s invitation!

On Sunday, we finished our series, God’s Design for Relationships, with a message on The Purpose of Discipline in Parenting. If you missed it, go here to see or hear it. This Sunday, we’re launching our series, Job: How to Suffer Well with a message from Job 1 on Our Suffering and God’s Pleasure.

I hope you have a wonderful week. I love serving as your pastor!

Keep praying for God to intercede on securing a loan to build our first building.

If you aren't currently serving on a team, please consider joining our Visual Team. Members of the visual team volunteer on a rotating basis to run ProPresenter on Sundays, including lyric slides, birthdays, and announcements. We'll provide all the training you need and it's easier than you think. If you're interested, please contact Clayton at cyclingclay@gmail.com.

Since we have nursery workers on site at 7:30am, you can always bring your small children with you when you serve!

One of our sister churches is Redemption, led by our friend Dave Goffeney.

This week, Dave asks us to pray for Redemption as: "We continue to look for a location. It has been a really difficult season of 'couch surfing', and with so many other unknowns surrounding our lives, it has been one other aspect of disorientation. However, we continue to press more and more deeply into surrender. We long to be faithful, and to walk intimately with Christ, and we have no doubt this season is part of His work. While we continue to pray, and don't have any real leads on a long-term location, we are eager to see where He is leading us and hopeful that He will provide in some way (whether it's through a building, which we're hoping for, or a renewed clarity on how and where He is calling us to be)."

Thank you for praying for our friends!

Our mission is to care for broken people so they learn to care for others through Jesus Christ.
