Saturday Sept. 18th

   Saturday Volunteers:

4070
The wheel pit will undergo a repaint of areas previously painted white.  Last Saturday, sound ties were cut to length and installed beneath the rail. The gage needs to be checked and then we can spike the rails and continue peripheral work around the pit.

Machine Shop
Attention vintage machinery enthusiasts! Our American Pacemaker 20 x120 lathe is in place. From the photo, you can see a lot of grime and rust needs to be removed so we can evaluate needed repairs. Just elbow grease and patience. If you have any welding skills, parts of the chip pan needs reattachment.  We have some surplus plate that we can cut up and use as leveling pads..

 Track Work/Yard Work/Turntable
Weather permitting, there is track work that must be done before winter. The track alongside the roundhouse needs to be put back. Ties are already spaced but need to be aligned and leveled so the rails can be placed. This will require some physical labor so the more help we have the easier it will be.  Plans also call for that track to be extended northward alongside the dock. Volunteers started tearing out rotted ties beneath the ring rail by tracks 3 and 4 last week. That work will continue this week with replacing them.

RPCA
Still looking for volunteers to help with the convention. Everything from stuffing gift bags to booking guest speakers.  If you have an interest in helping out, please contact any Board member. The Committee can use help also with contacting prospective Sponsors and Exhibitors. There will be a day of events at the Roundhouse so we will need volunteers to serve as hosts and tour guides. Step up now so we can get event IDs and apparel ordered.

Tour Guides
The past few weekends, visitors have been booking Saturday tours, so some help there would be appreciated. There are no train rides and the groups are generally small family groups.
