Hi <<First Name>>,

Last Sunday, I was walking at the 2021 Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope to help women living with ovarian cancer and those at risk. Spot my smile! What a nice way to send my Sunday, lacing up to walk in the beautiful sunshine for a good cause.

I went into politics because I knew there were so many ways to help people. For more on what our government is doing to make sure that happens, read on.

Strengthening our ambulance system

When you call 911 in an emergency, you should feel confident that help is on the way quickly. BC government is strengthening our ambulance system by converting 24 rural and remote paramedic stations from on-call to 24/7 staffing.

This will mean faster response times for people in small communities from Tofino to Fernie to Fort St James. As well, 85 new paramedics will be hired for larger centres, from Metro Vancouver, to Kamloops, to Prince George. Be safe everyone, and know that help is always here for you!
New accessible playgrounds

A total of 60 playgrounds at schools around the province will be built to allow more than 14,000 students in B.C. to play on new, accessible playgrounds. This investment means less fundraising for parents, and more time playing with their kids.

As a former elementary school teacher, I know that playing outdoors is not only fun, but it also helps students to practice sharing and problem solving. Being active at recess also helps kids to focus and learn better in the classroom. I cannot wait to see the playgrounds with accessible features like ground covers, ramps and transfer platforms, ensuring a place for kids of all abilities to play!

Over $1.45 million raised for wildfire relief

This wildfire season has been devastating for families in many B.C. communities. I am so grateful for our fire crews, who have been nothing short of heroic in their efforts to keep everyone safe. I would also like to extend my gratitude to everyone who has made a donation to the Canadian Red Cross to support their work. How heartwarming it is, to know that customers at BC Liquor Stores and BC Cannabis Stores have shown their community spirit by collectively donating over $1.45 million. This will be matched by the provincial and federal governments, for a total of over $4.35 million.
