Promise Zone Bike Ride

Garden Homes Park, 2600 W Atkinson Ave
Bike Riders in the Promise Zone RideRegistration is still open for the 4th annual promise zone bike ride this Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 10 am to 12:3o pm.  We are all meeting at Garden Homes Park, 2600 West Atkinson Avenue.  The event is free and open to all ages.  Dream Bikes will be repairing bikes for free before the ride starts--so come early. Tuesday, September 21st, 6 pm
Evening Paddle in Lincoln Park

Lincoln Park Landing, 4950 N Milw. River Parkway
Explore Lincoln Park's three river channels on this guided excursion. BYOB - Bring your own Boat. Paddling in Lincoln Park is appropriate for all level of paddlers. Details and sign-up are on the Project Paddle Meetup site. First time paddlers can arrive at 5 pm for instruction.

Wednesday, September 22nd, 6 pm
Autumn Equinox Hike

Washington Park Lagoon, Outside the Urban Ecology Center
Geese at SunsetMartina Patterson, Nearby Nature youth educator, will lead this hike into newly restored woodland and prairie habitat in Washington Park.
The equinox is a time for balance between dark and light. We'll seek balance between human and nature on this walk. Martina will consider the ethnobotany, or traditional uses of native plants we'll encounter.

Doors Open, Lincoln Creek Bike & Hike

Lincoln Park Pavilion, 1301 W Hampton Ave, Milwaukee
Lincoln Creek Bike and HikeNearby Nature Milwaukee Program Director Steven Hunter is leading two bike and hike outings with Doors Open Milwaukee to explore Lincoln Creek. Steven will discuss the 100-year flood that contributed to the demolition of St. Michael Hospital on Villard Avenue as well as explore a wild side of Lincoln Creek. The ride will start at the Lincoln Park Pavilion and go to Ascension All Saints - Family Health Center.  Advance tickets at Doors Open MKE

Historic Lincoln Creek Nature Walk

4335 N 35th St, Milwaukee (At the Bee Bus Sign)
Join neighbors and local experts for a walk along Lincoln Creek. Learn about the historic floods and green infrastructure efforts to prevent them. Learn about the birds and animals that share our neighborhood in this wild piece of nature. Light snacks provided. Sturdy shoes and long pants recommended. Autumn Celebration

Urban Ecology Center – Washington Park

The UEC at Washington Park is inviting the  community to celebrate "A Time of Change and Discovery." Registration is encouraged. In addition to lots of fun art and crafts, there will be organized bike, paddle and hike activities.  Sierra Club volunteers and Nearby Nature are holding a "Camping Expo" to present the essentials of camping to the community and promote their outings programs.  Get more info here.
