Tomorrow, September 17, Learning Support Day
Students who are failing classes are required to attend in person from 8:30am - 11:30am. Students and families should have been notified if they need to attend. In addition, you can check at https://https://myportal.dpsk12.org/ to see the grades.
Students who are on track in all of their classes can complete work at home asynchronously that they need to review or get caught up on.

Monday September 20, CSC Meeting, 6pm - virtual
We welcome all families and community members to our first CSC meeting of the year where we will provide an update regarding school at North. We will take time to elect the official members of CSC, but please note that all meetings are open to anyone to attend.
Off Campus Lunch
Some students in grades 10-12 are having a challenging time returning on-time after lunch. Please check the attendance of your student at https://myportal.dpsk12.org and encourage your student to make it back on time or to remain on campus.
Tik Tok Challenge
Unfortunately there is a Tik Tok Challenge where students are encouraged to steal and destroy school property across the country. This has impacted North in our restrooms with soap and toilet paper dispensers being tampered with. While we know this is only a few students, we have had to put more restrictions on restroom use so that we can ensure we have functioning restrooms. Please talk with your student about the importance of being respectful of others and school property. All students who are found to participate in these activities will be held accountable through the DPS board policies related to vandalism.
Food Services
Food services will be providing an expanded menu this month, so encourage your student to each from the cafeteria as there are more options than ever. If you have any feedback on food, email our amazing cafeteria manager, viginia_morales@dpsk12.org.

October Count is both a day & a window. October Count Window is Friday September 24th- Friday October 8th. October Count Day is October 1st, and is the official student membership count for all Colorado public school districts mandated by the Colorado Department of Education. Don’t Just Say No, Say Know webinar on Oct. 6, 12 pm
The DPS Substance Use Prevention Team is hosting the Don’t Just Say No, Say Know webinar on Oct. 6 at noon to share tools for talking to kids about drugs and alcohol. During the webinar, more information and resources will be shared to help schools and families understand substance use in the DPS community and what the Substance Use Prevention Team is doing to combat it. Webinar attendees will learn about the developing adolescent brain, how to talk to kids about substance use, and how to work with them to develop the skills and confidence needed to avoid misusing alcohol and other drugs. Desafío en Tik Tok
Desafortunadamente hay una tendencia en Tik Tok donde los estudiantes son animados a compartir retos destruyendo instalaciones escolares en todo el país. Esto ha impactado a North en nuestros baños y los dispensadores de jabón y papel higiénico han sido averiados o destruidos. Si bien sabemos que son solo unos pocos estudiantes, hemos tenido que poner más restricciones en el uso de los baños para que podamos asegurarnos de tener baños que funcionen. Por favor hable con su estudiante sobre la importancia de ser respetuoso con los demás y con la propiedad escolar. Todos los estudiantes que participen en estas actividades serán responsables a través de las políticas de la junta de DPS relacionadas con el vandalismo.

Octubre Count es tanto un día como una ventana. La ventana de conteo de octubre es del viernes 24 de septiembre al viernes 8 de octubre. El día del conteo de octubre es el 1 de octubre y es el conteo oficial de membresía estudiantil para todos los distritos escolares públicos de Colorado exigidos por el Departamento de Educación de Colorado. Seminario Virtual No Digas Simplemente No, Di Yo Se, El 6 De Octubre A Las 12 Pm
El Equipo de Prevención del Uso de Sustancias de DPS está organizando el seminario web Don’t Just Say No, Say Know el 6 de octubre al mediodía para compartir herramientas para hablar con los niños sobre las drogas y el alcohol. Homecoming Spirit Week
We are excited for Homecoming Spirit Week taking place in 2 weeks. A few notes in addition to the official communication linked here: Click here for more info
- All homecoming events will take place outside, this includes the dance, in an attempt to limit any potential COVID spread.
- No guests are permitted at the dance, only North students are allowed and tickets can be purchased from the treasurer.
- Students at the dance need to wear a mask due to the physical nature of dancing and being in close proximity to each other.
- The Pep Rally currently is on hold unless we are able to come up with a plan for an outdoor pep rally.
- Chili Cook Off Update - Due to the protocols for serving food during this strange time, we have determined it is not feasible to hold the chili cook off this year. We appreciate those of you who signed up to register your chili. All of the other fun events are still happening. Hooray for Homecoming 2021!

North COVID-19 Update
Here is your weekly COVID-19 update with all impacted parties being communicated with directly.
- 2 confirmed positive students
- We currently have about 50 students out a day due to illness. This is not necessarily related to COVID and want to applaud families and students for monitoring for any symptoms.
- There are about 10 students who our nurse is seeing each day and any student with symptoms is being tested and cannot return until test results come back.
- Continue to remind your student to be vigilant with their mask and to get vaccinated if possible.

Gleam Car Wash Fundraiser to Benefit SUNI scholarship, September 25
SUNI is partnering with Gleam Car Wash for a fundraiser to support SUNI's scholarship program to benefit a graduating senior of North HS. 10% of the car wash sales on 9/25 from 9-5pm will go to SUNI. 100% of the money received from this fundraiser will go toward the annual scholarship.
