Fellow CWOA Members,     
                                           
It is with great sadness that I report on a fellow Distinguished Member, and brother Chief Warrant Officer. 

 
CWO4 John M. Howarth, USCG (Ret)

It really hits home as I have been working for several months to help compile the Distinguished Member list and trying to capture current home addresses, e-mail addresses and telephone numbers.   
 
I had just talked with John just a couple of months ago, and was happy to hear the joy in his voice as he was once again reconnected with the memories of his past, and his involvement in the CWOA.  I remember John from his attendance at some of the CWOA Annual meetings in the DC area.  We talked about his many travels using Space-A-travel and travels around the world. 
 
CWOA Distinguished Member, John Crawford remembered in detail one story about John:

          “John did love to travel; he flew to Seattle for our National CWOA                         meeting in 1988 hosted by the Pacific NW Club.
           I had helped him with some extra sight-seeing excursions and drove                   him around town.
           He sent me the nicest thank you note - and a whiskey glass with my                   name etched on the side.                       
           Never used it, but I still have it in my home office (man cave) - some 33             years later.
           Good memory, from a very nice shipmate and true gentleman.
           Forgot …. we are both originally from the Pittsburgh area, so we hit it off             right away.”
 
May we not forget our fellow Distinguished Member.
