Halloween is nearly here! If you have concerns about how to safely celebrate Halloween during a pandemic, the Skagit Health Connection has some great insight and tips for you - whether you're handing out candy, collecting it, or going to a fall festival! Click here to read more. We will be hosting a drive-thru Halloween in our parking lot on October 30th - details to come!
As we move into autumn, we will maintain our Tuesday through Saturday sessions, with online reservations encouraged but not required. You are welcome to walk in during one of our session times without a reservation - typically with no space issues - but space is not guaranteed. Register to visit by clicking here. Masks are still required in the Museum for everyone over 3 years of age and we ask that everyone do their part to keep our Museum community healthy by staying home if you're unwell. |

Did you know that our Museum Explorers Preschool works with Musikgarten instructor David Zagelow (Evergreen Music School) to bring music and movement to the classroom?! Judging by this photo, it looks like they're having a pretty great time!

Nature Builder: Use outside play as an opportunity to explore how things work. Encourage your child to find natural building blocks like small sticks, rocks, and leaves. Take turns placing the objects on top of each other and talk about what you notice, “The leaf won’t stay on top. What else could we use?” (Suggested age 12 months – 3 years)
What your child is learning: As your child builds, they're thinking like a scientist and testing out ideas to learn more about balance, size, and cause and effect. Asking questions promotes critical thinking skills. They're more likely to remember and use what they learn when they're engaged in hands-on learning.
Nature Sizes: Outside, encourage your child to look for leaves, sticks, and rocks of different sizes. Invite them to arrange them from smallest to biggest. Ask questions about their thinking like, “How did you decide where to put that rock?” Switch up the rules and try sorting by color or type of object next. (Suggested age 3-5 years)
What your child is learning: Switching between different rules for sorting objects gives your child the opportunity to think flexibly, a skill they will use in problem-solving and coming up with new ideas. Your child is also becoming familiar with math concepts like shape, size, and number in playful ways.
Near and Far: When you're outside, try playing this game with your child. Give them a place to stand and have them estimate how many steps they are from you. When they walk back, count their steps together aloud. Try all different distances! (Suggested age 4-5 years)
What your child is learning: Young children can tell there is a difference between large and small quantities! By doing fun, back-and-forth games like this, you’re building on this skill and helping them understand more about what numbers stand for.

All Family Memberships to CMSC Include:
Unlimited admission to CMSC for member households for 12 months ● Free guest passes to CMSC ● Special Member-Only prices on Parties, Camps, & Classes ● 10% Member Discount in Museum Store ● 25% off general admission for 4 people when visiting NWAYM* member museums (does not apply to Childcare Providers.) Must provide your home museum card and a photo ID each visit to receive the discount. ● Memberships are not refundable or transferable. ● Some restrictions currently apply due to health/safety regulations.

Masks are required when visiting
Masks are required for visitors 3+, even if vaccinated.
- We will provide a disposable mask for you if you do not have one.
- Masks/face coverings must be cloth or disposable medical masks, fully cover the nose and mouth, and be worn the duration of your visit both indoors and out.
- COVID vaccination, medical exemptions, mesh masks, gators, bandanas, face shields and masks with vents are not accepted.
- This is in alignment with other children's museums in WA state and with public schools, under guidance from the Association of Children's Museums and as mandated by local and state government.

Waiver
An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is a very contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and visitors with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. By reserving tickets, you acknowledge that you understand and voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 for all.

Our operations, rules and procedures are based on the recommendations of the Skagit County Public Health Department, the Centers for Disease Control (updated 4/5/2021) and Healthy Washington Reopening Guidance for Museums (updated 3/19/2021), the Association for Children's Museums and World Health Organizations and are in alignment with other children's museums in WA state and with public schools. Dates and procedures may change because of mandates or directives. We're monitoring the updates in WA State, and will make adjustments accordingly when we know of the latest guidance.

Reservations are recommended to visit the Museum
We are open 5 days/week for 2-hour sessions:
Tuesday-Saturday
10am-12pm or 1pm-3pm
- The Museum is open to both Members and Non-Members!
- Admission rates per person for Non-Members: Infants under 12 months Free, Children 12 months or older and adults $7.75, Military/Seniors (65 years old) $6.75, Museums For All (EBT, WIC, CHIP, Provider One, Apple Health, or Foster Parent cards) $3
- You will still need your membership number to make a reservation as a Member and will need to bring your membership card or ID when you check-in.
- Contact information for each person is required for contact tracing purposes.
- Please review our COVID-19-Specific FAQ's on our website before you visit! And read all the event details before clicking 'Select a Date' on online reservation system.
- You will also be able to make reservations by phone when we have staff in the Museum. 360.757.8888. In-person, day-of walk-in reservations are available but space is not guaranteed.
