Welcome to the latest issue of WoodTECH.News.
As we mentioned back in July, WoodTECH 2021 was pushed back to 2022 due to Covid-19 travel restrictions and the 'post-Covid' building boom.
We can now outline plans for the revamped WoodTECH 2022 event. It will be hosted 18-19 May 2022 in Rotorua New Zealand and streamed live online. This means that, for our Australian community, you will be able to view and participate in the event virtually online. With the uncertainty still surrounding travel to and within Australia, we have ruled out physically hosting it in Melbourne next year. Special site arrangements will be set up with Australian mills to view and participate remotely during the event – or use the recorded presentations at a later date for staff training, tech updates and mill troubleshooting.
WoodTECH 2022 will focus on the greenmill, sawmilling, saws and saw doctoring, machine centre troubleshooting and retaining and attracting the right skills into your operation. We will keep you all updated once the programme is finalised.
In this month's stories, local industry news dominates the list. A couple of highlights include the announcement of a new LOSP treatment plant in Tarpeena, the first new wood-fed hydrogen production plant in NSW and the appointment of New Zealand's new CEO for the Wood Processors & Manufacturers Association.
