WE Bike for Halloween
Saturday, October 30
Meet at 1:00 pm, wheels down at 1:30 pm
Continental Army Plaza, Williamsburg, Brooklyn

RSVP

Join us for a spooky costumed ride around Calvary Cemetery and donuts at Peter Pan Donut & Pastry Shop!

Get your costume on and join us for our FREE Halloween ride! WE'll meet at Continental Army Plaza on the Brooklyn side of the Williamsburg Bridge at 1:00, then it's wheels down at 1:30 to explore Calvary Cemetery. Over 3 million people have been buried in this cemetery since its establishment in 1848. New York City’s famous skyline, jaggedly rising and falling in the background, eerily parallels the lines formed by the endless rows of headstones decorating the grounds. WE'll stop at local favorite Peter Pan Donuts & Pastry Shop on the return trip before ending at the Williamsburg Bridge. This is a social ride mostly on bike lanes. Bring your lock, plus cash for a warm beverage or apple cider donut. Helmets are required, costumes encouraged!!!

All riders are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. WE will be checking vaccine cards/apps.

Mask policy: Participants are not required to wear a mask while riding, however you may be required to wear a mask if we go indoors or at crowded ride stops.

Note: This event is open to women, female-identifying and gender nonconforming people only

Meet a WE Biker: Becky Hahn

Every volunteer brings something special to our organization. And WE count on them—whether they’re leading our rides, writing our newsletters, responding to mail, building our website. This month's volunteer is Becky Hahn, WE Bike NYC's Director of Operations. Get to know her here!

What was your first WE Bike NYC ride?
I had to check the WE Bike NYC archives to verify this! It was the CycloFemme ride to Roosevelt Island in May 2013. That was a memorable ride--the Mujeres en Movimiento joined us, there was a photographer on hand doing bike portraits, and we got a great flat fix demo by Laura Solís when someone’s tire suddenly blew out (thankfully they were not on the bike at the time).

What's your favorite route?
I love biking to the Rockaways in the summer. I live in Harlem so it’s a long ride, but it’s fun to get in some miles and then hang out on the beach with friends.

What do you ride?
I ride a Surly Cross Check which is a great all purpose bike, and I hope to keep riding it for many years to come. I also have a Citi Bike membership--I use Citi Bikes for short trips around my neighborhood, one-way trips and for winter riding.

Why do you love WE Bike NYC?
I love the community. I’ve learned so much and made so many friends among this supportive, non-competitive community. The women of WE Bike NYC inspire me to try new things and get out of my comfort zone. Becoming a volunteer with WE Bike NYC has also been a great opportunity for me to develop my leadership skills.
