We have all become used to continuous change… Yesterday, I was booked to board a plane to Dubai.. where I expected to spend 10 days. That all got put on hold as Dubai changed the entry parameters for people from Zambia. Thank fully UK has also changed and Zambia along with many other countries ceases to be ‘red’ from 4am on Monday.. Hopefully, I will arrive safely on Monday lunchtime in UK without need for the enforced costly hotel stay at my expense.

Please pray for the Circuit Leadership team as we meet on Tuesday.

We were sad to hear of the death of Eric Stott, who died in Residential Care aged 99.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday 19th October at Sandwell Crematorium, followed by a Service of Thanksgiving at Four Oaks at 3.30 pm the same day. Eric was deeply committed to work in both church and circuit. We give thanks for his life and hold his family in our prayers. Please write and let me known a little more of this gracious life so that I can include in the next bulletin.

With all good wishes, Malcolm and the Circuit Leadership team

Chess Sets - THANK YOU

Dear Sutton Park Friends,

Thank you so much for your incredible generosity in response to my appeal for Chess Set Sponsorship last week. You actually far exceeded my target, so I have been able to supplement the Chess Sets with Chess Clocks, a Chess Demonstration Board, Chess Game Sheets and even Chess Pin Badges to mark the achievements of those students who pass their Chess Proficiency Test (basic knowledge of the board, pieces and game play). This has provided a massive boost to Chess in the school at Tipton, and now interest is growing week by week.

Furthermore, I have received deeply humbling messages of Thanks from the Head of Maths and the Head of School - both of whom have been completely blown away by the generosity of “your church people”. What a fabulous witness!

Thank you again.

Stephen Froggatt

Psalms of Lament

I am so grateful to all of you who came for my presentation on the Psalms of Lament at Four Oaks on Sunday Evening. Following the talk, I am pleased to share below the slides from the presentation, and the accompanying essay which formed the basis of the delivery.

Street Pastors

Erdington Street Pastors

Would like to be part of the Team?

We are now urgently in need of Street Pastors that would patrol the High Street and around schools. Full training would be provided. It is FREE for the first 20 including licensing and uniform. You need minimum of 2 -3 patrols per month and good if you can do more.

Volunteers should be over 18 (there is no upper age limit), active Christians and willing to complete 2 sets of training …virtual and 1 day in-person including sessions on Police, Community, Youth culture, drugs and homelessness. A DBS (Criminal Records Bureau Check) is required and references are obtained before joining a team of at least three/four people, each of whom will work for 3 hours together in the afternoons during the week and Saturday morning. A distinctive uniform is worn when volunteering so people know who we are.

Additionally, we are also in need of Prayer Pastors who will back up the Street Pastors while they are on the field and occasionally be in communication with them while they are on the field.

Please contact/submit your form to Jean Morton on erdington@streetpastors.org.uk And if you need any clarification, you can always contact any of the management committee member.

Pastor Rasaq Ibrahim (Chair), Claire Westmacott (Secretary), Mel Taylor (Treasurer), Rev Malcolm Oliver & Jean Morton.
