Dear friends,

I hope this Fall email finds you safe and well.
I am sending images of two new artist books completed  - 1964 (I don't know) and The Great Black Swamp 1. The books can also be found on my website http://www.timothyfrerichs.com/other.html or www.timothyfrerichs.com. The works are for inclusion in my upcoming exhibition at the Burchfield Penny Art Center, Buffalo, opening in April, 2022.

Other news:
I initiated a series of 12"x18" mixed media works incorporating layered pulp-painting along with monoprints, collage, and drawing. The series focuses on water and wind currents from Lake Erie. Somewhat unusual for me, some are quite colorful! - I will post images in a couple of months.
Additionally, I continue completing works (drawings mainly) and am editing video that further develops the Navigation: Lake Erie project.

Finally:
I am dedicating this email in remembrance of my father - Arno Frerichs, who died this early Summer. Although he struggled at times to understand (my) artwork, he was incredibly supportive and a wonderful father and person. I miss him profoundly.
I've included images from the urn I created for his ashes that were buried this past July next to my mother, Marian Frerichs.

Urn images: I focused on the simplicity that my father (A retired Lutheran Pastor) preferred. All the materials will biodegrade and are environmentally safe. Furthermore, I used only materials I had already on hand.
The Urn is made from thick handmade sheets of laminated Abaca and Kozo paper fibers. The front symbol is from the front of my father's copy of the Lutheran Book of Worship (the older red one). It is sewn with Japanese 24 K gold thread. I lifted his signature from the inside cover of the LBW and it is sewn in white cotton thread on the back of the Urn.
The orange/red cord is extracted from my father's vestment (robe) rope belt. It, like his belt, held everything in place - I dyed it orange/red extracted from the Dahlia flower. I associate the color red with my father. He often wore red and I greatly treasured his small red Augsburg publishing calendar/notebook that was an integral element of his life.

The inside of the cover is a quote that my father repeated often after my Mother and Brother's death.
