THE GUILD HAS TREATS FOR YOU

Time to Level Up

On November 1st, the Presentation Guild launches a new virtual bootcamp for our Certified Presentation Expert (CPE)™ – PowerPoint certification.

Presentation EXPERT Certification Bootcamp*
November 1–5, 2021
8 am–10 am PDT • 11 am–1 pm EDT • UTC 15:00
Other times shown here.
*Only Certified Presentation Specialists (CPS) can enroll in this bootcamp and take the exam.

The bootcamp costs $495 USD. Attendees will receive a $200 discount coupon toward their certification exams—an exceptional savings! Guild members only pay $200 USD to take the exam and non-members pay $350 USD.

The Guild’s professional certifications feature three tiers of presentation designations: Specialist, Expert, and Master (release date announced next year). We unveiled our first assessment for Certified Presentation Specialist (CPS)™ – PowerPoint in 2017. Since then, many have attained that designation.

Certified Presentation Specialists will be eligible to take the Certified Presentation Expert (CPE)™ – PowerPoint in coming months.

Read more about the CPE assessment here.

The EXPERT certification bootcamp will meet across one week for two hours every day. Each day, the instructor will review one category of standards. You will also complete a practice test during class and focus on the mechanics of taking the test. These sessions are certification prep courses and not PowerPoint training classes. There is much to cover, so instructors will go quickly through the material. The CPE exam is based on the Presentation Industry Professional Standards, published by the Presentation Guild.

Ready to start the process of earning your presentation certifications? Go to the Guild’s website to learn all about our certification program and how to begin.

October 29, 2021
10 am PDT • 1 pm EDT • UTC 17:00

Presentation industry leaders Cliff Atkinson, Julie Terberg, and Lori Chollar gather around their glowing monitors to weave tales of Presentation Tricks, Treats, and Horror Stories. Board member Sheila B. Robinson is your host through the hallowed halls of presentation woes and delights as the panel discusses gripping topics like structuring content and using gripping visuals to enthrall your audience.

We aren’t sure what Sheila will pull from her plastic pumpkin of goodies. However, we do know that Cliff, Julie, and Lori can turn frightful tales into delightful tricks and treats. Or is it vice-versa? Hmm, you’ll just have to attend to find out.

Go to our calendar page to learn how to join this ghoulishly fun and inspiring event.

Guild Gathering: The Future of Presenting
November 12, 2021
10 am PST • 1 pm EST • UTC 18:00
Other times shown here.

Join Guild member and Presentation Futurist, Yulia Barnakova for a Guild Gathering like no other. We will begin on Zoom then move to a virtual space using FrameVR. No VR headset is required, only a web browser, ideally Chrome.

To start the session, Yulia will discuss the potential of 3D Spaces for presenting. After we transition to the virtual space, she will show us how to customize our avatars. Then Yulia will walk us through a virtual space with 3D models, videos, and images. We may even have time to play a game!

If you can only join us after we’ve begun, you can meet us in the virtual space by following a link provided to you via email before the session.

To attend the session, please log into your account on the Guild's website and go to the events calendar. Click the “Register” button on the Guild Gathering page to attend. After you log in on the day of the gathering, you will be placed in the waiting room, and the moderator will admit you at the appropriate time.

Our Latest Certified Presentation Specialist

Congratulations to Guild member Adam Krawczuk for earning a Certified Presentation Specialist (CPS™) distinction!

The Guild’s professional certifications reflect attainment of established criteria for proficiency and competency in the presentation industry. They require a specified amount of industry experience and are granted upon an assessment of an individual’s knowledge and skills. Our professional certifications have ongoing requirements that must be met every two years.

Go to the Guild website to learn more about our presentation certification program.

ATTENTION GUILD MEMBERS!
Teach Us Your Tricks and Tips

A major perk of Guild membership is the opportunity to publish an article on our blog and gain industry exposure. Do you have a pro tip or trick, a lesson you’ve learned along the way, or a favorite resource to share with our readers? We are sure that you do!

Blogging for the Guild is easy!

Our submission form contains Contribution Guidelines to answer your questions (email us at info@presentionguild.org if you need more clarification). Simply fill out your name and email, a title for your article, and a short excerpt. Then upload your article (250-600 words) to our site.

You can upload screenshots or other graphics to support your message and include a headshot as well. The Contribution Guidelines will help you sort out copyright concerns.

Start your post with a brief greeting and intro about what you do. Share your business name and a link to your company website, portfolio, and/or social media profiles, but the focus for the article is not on selling your services. The blog is for helping your peers reach their goals by sharing your industry best practices—whether in design, delivery, technology, business management, and anything else related to working with presentations.

Ready to contribute?

The Presentation Guild is looking for original material to post on our blog. Please don’t send articles you have published on your own blog or elsewhere. It is acceptable to share a tip, trick, lesson learned, or resource you've learned elsewhere. However, it needs to be shared in your own words, in your own unique way.

So, showcase your knowledge! Share your passion for presentations, your slide design savvy, or your proficiency with public speaking on the Guild blog.

The Presentation Summit Keeps on Giving

Those who attended the 2021 Presentation Summit were treated to a new instruction experience. The over 200 attendees—either virtual or in person—received a unique perspective into hosting a hybrid conference. Host Rick Altman joined forces with virtual MC John Chen to ensure both audiences were fully engaged. The technology ran smoothly (with only a few minor glitches) and allowed the two audiences to co-mingle and create a more inclusive experience for both.

While the conference has now concluded, the experience has not. The entire platform is available to those who want to see what they missed. Watch all keynotes and seminars (many delivered by Guild members and directors), visit sponsors and exhibitors, and enjoy inter-session interviews and interludes. Plus, review all the Chats and watch several virtual happy hours.

On-site patrons paid $1,595 for the privilege of the live, firsthand experience. However, if you missed the Summit last month, you can still access all the sessions and experiences on the conference platform for just $495.

Everyone who attended the Summit or registers for the recordings can learn from all aspects of the conference from now until March 2022.
