Your Money Story: Remember
Even in stories of desperation and deep betrayal, we are gifted with God’s provision
Wearing worry about money like a hair shirt
I lie down in my bed and wrestle with my angel
My bank-manager could not sanction my continuance for another day
But life itself wakes me each morning, and love
Urges me to give although I have no money
In the bank at this moment, and ought properly
To cease to exist in a world where poverty Is a shameful and ridiculous offense . . . .”
—From “Worry About Money” by Kathleen Jessie Raine
Our new sermon series titled Our Money Story begins this coming Sunday!
Please keep an eye out for an introduction email coming in the next day or so with details
and a further description of the series!
This Week's Scripture Verse
Luke 22:1-6
The Feast of Unleavened Bread, also called Passover, drew near.
The high priests and religion scholars were looking for a way to do away with Jesus but,
fearful of the people, they were also looking for a way to cover their tracks.
That’s when Satan entered Judas, the one called Iscariot. He was one of the Twelve.
Leaving the others, he conferred with the high priests and the Temple guards about how he might betray Jesus to them. They couldn’t believe their good luck and agreed to pay him well.
He gave them his word and started looking for a way to betray Jesus,
but out of sight of the crowd.

Ministry Fair
On Sunday, October 17th GVUMC will be having a ministry fair in the Education Building between church services. If you currently chair a ministry team, group or mission and would like to have
a table at the event, please reach out to Jill Moser at moserslv@yahoo.com
or by phone: 702-461-4102.
I would like to encourage all to stop by the Education Building to visit the tables and learn about the many different ways to utilize your time and talents serving God through the church. For those who attend service online, Ryan and Jill will have an opportunity for you to see the ministry tables that are set up and Jill will be available during or after the event to answer any questions.
Please reach out to her to talk about the areas of ministry that interest you.
Trunk or Treat
We are bringing back our annual Trunk or Treat event!
Saturday, October 30th from 5:00pm to 6:30pm in our church parking lot!
We are asking that you keep your theme family-oriented and
non-frightening for the smaller children. Trunk kits can be purchased at Party City
or DIY theme ideas can be found at this link: HERE
We ask that you arrive promptly at 4:30pm to set up and bring two large bags of candy for dispersing. If you purchase a bag with nuts, please have one nut-free option.
This has always been a popular community event and something we are looking forward to bringing back. While it is meant to be fun, we will be judging trunks and awarding a WINNER!
May the odds be ever in your favor!

College Care Kits
We know that going to college can be a difficult new season, and even more with current conditions and travel restrictions. Trips home during the semester and even parent campus visits have been put on hold. We want to let your students know that their church family is thinking of them - we want to show our support by sending them a care package.
Please send us the name and address of your college students
(and any allergies/diet restrictions) by October 15th.
Send to Megan Gilley: youthmin@gvumc.org
If anyone would like to help us support these students, there will be a donation box in the Narthex starting October 17th. Once we have the number of students, we will post the “shopping list”.
We hope to have everything collected and shipped the first week of November.
All-Church Education Hour!
Each Sunday at 9:45am!
Come hear Pastor Mary talk about her sermon
and go into greater depth about the scripture!
Join us anytime!
Exciting times at Green Valley UMC, we have begun our All Church Education Hour!
Why is it called "All Church?" Because many times church members will attend either the early or late service and it can feel like there are two different churches. By coming together in the middle we will get to know people we might rarely, if ever, see or meet. This one hour each Sunday morning will help us be a stronger and more unified church, a real church family.
So, plan to come early if you normally worship at 11:00am or plan to stay if you attend worship at 8:30am. At Green Valley we will be a church that worships our God and comes together in fellowship to learn and draw closer to God. So, plan now for a complete worship
and spiritual growth experience every Sunday. We are one Church!
