NEW WEBINAR - Engaging Youth as Workers in Afterschool
Wednesday, October 20, 2021, online via Zoom! * 10:00am - 12:00pm pst * $8

We know that involving older youth as workers within afterschool programs makes a great deal of sense. Engaging youth in this way helps them address their developmental tasks and personal interests. It offers experiences that builds life, workforce and career skills. It also offers important leadership roles and opportunities to serve others, creates career pathways to professions such as teaching and social work, and ensures the program is more relevant to other youth participants.
The purpose of this webinar is to inform and encourage afterschool programs to offer youth opportunities to serve as workers within these programs. It is our intention to capture and share valuable and intriguing ideas and information to help programs enlist youth as workers.
Who Should Attend: Out-of-school time and educational leaders and practitioners serving young people ages 5-18, funders, and policy-makers.

It’s here! You can now Book a Biologist
Last year we piloted our Book a Biologist program, which pairs up Stanford graduate students with middle and high school science classrooms.
It was so successful that we decided to expand it this year, and we’re thrilled to be opening up registration today.
In this FREE virtual experience, an expert guest speaker will engage with your middle or high school students for 45-60 minutes.
We offer two types of sessions: Meet a Scientist: This session is informal and conversational. The Biologist will give a 5-10 minute presentation about who they are, including a bit about their personal history, path into science, current work, and career goals. The rest of the session will
be an open Q&A from students.
Research Presentation: In this type of session, the Biologist will give a 20-minute  presentation about their current work and studies, giving students a sneak peek into  cutting-edge research. The rest of the session will be an open Q&A from students.
