Reducing Mozzie Numbers
The City's Annual Mosquito Control Program is underway! The program includes monitoring mosquito populations by setting a number of traps throughout the City and baiting storm water gullies to prevent larvae from developing into adult mosquitos. As mosquitoes breed in stagnant water sources, removing access to these sources can significantly reduce mosquito numbers. Here are some tips to reduce mosquito numbers in and around the home:
Clean gutters to prevent pooling
Remove items which retain water such as tyres & buckets
Regularly replace water in pet water bowls, bird baths & pot plant trays
Keep swimming pools chlorinated
Keep ponds stocked with mosquito eating fish & keep edges free of vegetation
Screen rainwater tanks with insect proof mesh including inlet, overflow & inspection pipes

Clean Up Before Summer
Did you know that the City provides skip bins to residents for the collection of green waste and general household waste?
With the masses of rain we had this winter there will be plenty of turbo new growth that will turn dry and brittle over summer – perfect for bushfires!
🗑️ Now is a great time to have a garden blitz to ensure you’re ready for bushfire season!
👎 Don’t throw it over the fence – throw it in the skip OR take it to the tip! 👍
