Following on from our hybrid workshop I got enthused and created a new cabochon design. These colours are just beautiful and the Swarovski crystals make it sparkly and interesting.

I could see this Violet Sparkle necklace across a crowded room ...
During the pandemic my little Thursday night bead group took to Zoom. We have faithfully kept up our weekly online meetings and I honestly believe they kept us all from losing our minds.

Recently we staged a real life meet up at the local food carts. One of the women brought a kit she had purchased from Kate Boyan in Alaska. The leather bag blank is hand made by her husband and Kate designs the embroidered beaded story to stitch onto the bag. Each bag is completely individual and unique.

Fascinating work and definitely made me think about how each piece IS a story. Not just what it depicts but the journey taken to create the artwork.
Beki is at it again. I took one of these virtual retreats earlier this year and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm still working on Kinga Nichols cute owl brooch/pendant.

I think the classes still have a few openings but not 100% sure. Check it out as here's your chance to take a class with Kinga,

Katalin (she likes to be called Kata), and Melissa.

Just so you know, I really did enjoy taking the 3 days of workshops. Zoom workshops are definitely not the same as being there IRL. However, if you think of it as a different animal and treat it as such then you will learn much little grasshopper.
On the hunt for Thanksgiving themed beading patterns I came across this pair of sweet turkey earrings. I think I need to make some as David will finally be home for Thanksgiving (after 2 years of driving buses on every public holiday) and I must celebrate. There isn't a photo of the finished product but the free instructions give you a pretty good idea of the finished product.

If you make them, send me a pic. I'll make some too and we can compare.

Take a moment and unwind to the soothing voice over and tinkling music of this video. Moths in slow motion - absolutely mesmerizing.
Holy Cow! Just a couple of newsletters ago I was burbling on about the immersive Van Gogh exhibition in London, England. Well, unbeknownst to me, 'cos I'm lazy, I did not follow up on the exhibition schedule and there it is -  the Portland Convention Center is hosting the very same exhibition.

So now you can see it over here instead of going through the hoopla of flying over to London.
'til the next time,
Rose
