GREETINGS AND WELCOME BACK TO OUR FALL 2021 MEETINGS….
I’m sending this announcement on behalf of our president, Kathleen Thompson who is traveling
with her husband to visit family. We wish her a well deserved vacation!
Dr. Ted Spickler will be our speaker for our October 20th Meeting at Bear Trap
Our group was fortunate to have Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester as our speaker at the August 18
th luncheon. For those of you who attended the luncheon, I am sure you will agree that she is a remarkable person who we are fortunate to have representing our State. Her energy and talk were truly inspirational.
Our next meeting at Bear Trap Dunes will be on Wednesday, October 20th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The cost of the luncheon, gratuity included, is $22 for members and $25 for nonmembers, check or cash accepted at the door.

Monday, October 11
th. This deadline is absolute and we are not able to add meals after this date.
The selections for lunch include:
- Nicoise Salad – Seared tuna, tomato, potato, haricot verts, hard boiled eggs and
olives over butter lettuce with mustard vinaigrette on the side
- Butternut Squash Ravioli – In a sage butter sauce
- Turkey Wrap – Curried turkey salad with cashews, carrot and cucumber served
in a flour tortilla

We are very excited to have Dr. Ted Spickler as our guest speaker. Dr. Spickler will discuss some of the political issues facing us as the earth gradually gets worse over the global warming epidemic. Several years ago, he attended the Al Gore training sessions for the Climate Reality Project and is a Delaware
volunteer with Citizens Climate Lobby. Ted is a former physics professor for West Liberty University in
West Virginia and a former corporate trainer quality manager at Bayer Material Science in Pittsburgh. He could spend hours talking happily about the physics of climate change but the biggest problems facing the country involve building the political will to address various necessary actions needed to
assure our grand and great grandchildren a healthy life as they grow into their future. Ted studied
physics at West Chester University and Xavier in Cincinnati. He finished his doctorate in Statistics and Educational Psychology at West Virginia University. With his wife, Donna, they chose to retire in
Dagsboro, Delaware being careful to avoid FEMA designated flood areas.
Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 17
th and our featured speaker will be
author Barbara Shamp.
