Our next Discover GraceLife class will begin this Sunday, October 3, during the 11am hour in Room 106! Discover GraceLife is a 4-week course designed to help our newest members, and those that have been visiting learn more about our church, our beliefs, and how to get more involved. Contact Pastor Sean (ssimonton@gracelifefamily.org) or call the church office for more information.

5 Thoughts About Christians & Evangelism

  • Only 3 in 10 unchurched Americans (29%) say a Christian has ever shared with them one-on-one how a person becomes a Christian.
  • Only slightly more say a Christian has told them about the benefits of participating in a local church (33%) or the benefits of becoming a Christian (35%).
  • For 4 in 10 unchurched Americans (40%), they’ve never had a Christian explain any of those things to them.

These are the findings of a recent Lifeway Research study worth our attention. Dr. Chuck Lawless provides some responses to these findings in this ARTICLE.

Psalm 145:3

"Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. One generation shall commend your works to another and shall declare your mighty acts."

Have you ever thought of the worship legacy you are leaving for the next generation? The scripture above implies a duty to proclaim God's greatness in a way that commends and inspires the next generation to follow God. If worship is our expressed response to God's goodness, then there should be no question of how much we love and pursue God when someone examines our worship. The beauty of the Church is that it is a gathering of people from different ages coming together to worship the everlasting and eternal God. This week bring your voices and hearts to declare the greatness of God from generation to generation. Here are the songs.

Glorious Day
Goodness of God
Worthy of Your Name

Sometimes it feels like the things we’re doing as parents isn’t having the impact we wish it would, at least not as quickly as we might want. When it comes to the spiritual development of our kids, at some level we’ve given into the culture of immediate gratification and we get frustrated at the slow progress we see. This article gives us some encouragement to stay the course of the long, slow work of Gospel transformation that only Jesus can accomplish. Check it out and let me know how I can be praying for your family this week! — Pastor Jonathan

Happy Thursday Friends!

This Sunday morning in Children’s worship we will be talking about the story of the Good Samaritan. As parents it is hard sometimes to know how to encourage our children to speak kind words and to be nice to one another – especially to siblings. We will examine this story on Sunday and focus on how boys and girls can help others. Here is an article that might encourage you to teach/encourage your children to be nicer to others. It uses God’s Word to teach.

Also, on Wednesday, October 27, during Awana we will have some fall fun activities! At the end of the evening our boys and girls will have an opportunity to participate in a trunk or treat line in the parking lot as they leave. As we prepare for that there are two items that we need help with.

  1.  We are in need of bags of candy.  If you could bring in a bag of candy and leave it in the foyer by the women’s restroom, that would greatly help us!
  2. We could use some additional families/individuals to decorate a trunk for the night.  Please let me know if you can help with this.
