Cerddwyr Cylch Teifi

9fed Hydref 2021

Ardal Llandudoch

Arweinydd: Terwyn Tomos

Dechrau yn Abaty Llandudoch (SA43 3DX) am 10.30yb yn brydlon. Taith 2 awr.

Dilyn yn ôl troed y mynachod.

Pwrpas y daith yw ymweld â lleoliadau o gwmpas Llandudoch sydd â chysylltiad gyda’r mynachod a fu’n byw yn Abaty Llandudoch o’r 12fed ganrif ymlaen.

Mae maes parcio yn y pentref (angen talu). Byddwn yn cyfarfod i ddechrau’r daith  yn yr abaty i gael braslun o hanes ei sefydlu, cyn cerdded lawr at Afon Teifi a cherdded ar hyd y lan hyd at y Netpwl, oedd yn lleoliad o bwys i’r mynachod, ac i genedlaethau o bysgotwyr Llandudoch.  Wedi ymweld â Charreg y Fendith, byddwn yn cerdded drwy’r pentref, gan dynnu sylw at rai nodweddion cyn mynd i fyny’r cwm ar hyd llwybr cul (Llwybr Pencwm) sydd â golygfeydd bendigedig o’r abaty ac o’r pentref a’r ardal yn gyffredinol.  Cawn glywed am bwysigrwydd yr ardal hon i fywyd bob dydd y mynachod.

Wedi cyrraedd Cwm Degwel, byddwn yn dychwelyd i’r pentref ar hyd y ffordd fawr, eto gan dynnu sylw at nodweddion sy’n berthnasol i hanes yr abaty.

Yn ogystal â materion sy’n ymwneud â’r abaty a’r mynachod, byddwn yn rhoi sylw i nodweddion hanesyddol diddorol eraill.

DYSGWYR
Cofiwch fod dysgwyr yn dod i gerdded gyda’r grŵp er mwyn cael cyfle i sgwrsio â Chymry lleol. Da chi, agorwch sgwrs â nhw pan allwch.

Cerddwyr Cylch Teifi Walkers

9th October 2021

St Dogmaels Area

Leader: Terwyn Tomos

Starts at St Dogmaels Abbey (SA43 3DX) at 10.30am prompt. 2 hour walk.

Following in the footsteps of the monks.

The purpose of the walk is to visit locations around St Dogmaels that have connections with the monks who lived at St Dogmaels Abbey from the 12th century onwards.

There is a car park in the village (payment required). We’ll meet to begin the walk in the abbey for a brief history of its founding, before walking down to the River Teifi and walking along the shore to the Netpool, which was an important location for the monks, and for generations of the fishermen of St. Dogmaels. After visiting Carreg y Fendith (Blessing Stone), we’ll walk through the village, highlighting some features before heading up the valley along a narrow path (Pencwm Path) that has wonderful views of the abbey and the village and the area as a whole. We’ll hear about the importance of this area to the daily life of the monks.

On reaching Cwm Degwel, we’ll return to the village along the main road, again highlighting features relevant to the abbey's history.

As well as matters relating to the abbey and monks, we’ll also look at other interesting historical features.

LEARNING WELSH?
Welsh will be the language of the walk, so if you are beginning to learn you may not be able to follow much of what is said but it is an ideal opportunity to use all the Welsh you have learned and you can ask others to give you the gist – but please try to avoid using ‘English-only’ in any conversation.
RHAGLEN 2021 - 22 (HYD YN HYN)

Bydd pob taith yn para rhyw 2 awr, gan ddechrau am 10.30yb.

  • Sadwrn Hydref 9fed yn ardal Llandudoch, gyda Terwyn Tomos yn arwain

  • Sadwrn Tachwedd 13eg yn dechrau yn y Ganolfan Bywyd Gwyllt, Cilgerran, gyda Howard Williams yn arwain

  • Sadwrn Rhagfyr 4ydd yn dechrau yn Aberteifi a cherdded ar hyd yr afon. gyda Siân Bowen yn arwain

Ond wrth gwrs os bydd rheolau Cymru am Covid yn newid, bydd angen inni addasu neu ganslo teithiau. Rhoddwn wybod i chi trwy e-bost. Ni fyddwn yn trefnu man i gymdeithasu ar ôl y teithiau er mwyn peidio annog pobl i gwrdd dan do, ond gallwch wneud fel y mynnwch wrth gwrs.

Bydd e-bost gyda’r manylion llawn am bob taith yn dod atoch chi wythnos cyn y daith bob tro. Ond hoffwn eich annog i ddarllen y nodiadau isod am ddiogelwch rhag Covid a diogelwch rhag damweiniau ar y teithiau cyn i chi ddod ar y teithiau.

PROGRAMME 2021 - 22 (SO FAR)

Each walk will last about 2 hours, starting at 10.30am.
  • Saturday October 9th in the St Dogmaels area, led by Terwyn Tomos

  • Saturday November 13th starting at the Wildlife Centre, Cilgerran, led by Howard Williams

IECHYD A DIOGELWCH

Cofiwch mai chi sy’n gyfrifol am eich iechyd a diogelwch eich hunain.

Diogelwch rhag Covid-19

O 7 Awst 2021 cododd Llywodraeth Cymru weddill y cyfyngiadau statudol ynglŷn â chwrdd yn yr awyr agored ond, am fod yr haint yma o hyd, eu cyngor yw parhau i fod yn ofalus ac yn synhwyrol.

Ac felly gofynnir i’n cerddwyr:
  • sicrhau eich bod wedi cael y ddau frechiad os ydynt ar gael ichi;
  • ceisio cadw rhyw bellter cymdeithasol rhesymol oddi wrth gerddwyr sy’n perthyn i aelwydydd eraill;
  • ac wrth gwrs, peidio â dod i daith os ydych chi’n:
    • hunan-ynysu, neu
    • dangos unrhyw symptom sy’n gysylltiedig â’r haint.
Diogelwch ar deithiau – rhag damweiniau
  • darllenwch fanylion y daith i sicrhau eich bod yn ddigon abl i’w chyflawni heb oedi’n ormodol;
  • dewch â dillad addas gan ystyried adeg y flwyddyn a rhagolygon y tywydd, yn enwedig esgidiau cymwys i dir gwlyb ac anwastad;
  • cadwch gysylltiad â gweddill y criw trwy aros o flaen y trefnydd a fydd wrth gefn y rhes o gerddwyr;
  • hysbyswch drefnydd os gadewch chi’r daith yn gynnar;
  • cadwch gŵn ar dennyn;
  • cymerwch ofal arbennig wrth groesi ffyrdd ac wrth gerdded:
    • ar hyd ffyrdd heb balmant;
    • ar lethrau serth;
    • ar lwybrau lle mae disgyniad ar un ochr fel yn aml ar lwybrau’r arfordir

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Remember that you are responsible for your own health and safety.

Protection from Covid-19

From 7 August 2021 the Welsh Government lifted the remaining statutory restrictions on meeting outdoors but, as the virus still exists, their advice is to remain cautious and sensible.

And so our walkers are asked to:
  • make sure you have had both vaccinations if they are available to you;
  • try to keep some reasonable social distance from walkers from other households;
  • and of course, don't come to a walk if you are:
    • self-isolating, or
    • showing any symptom associated with the infection.

Safety on walks - from accidents
  • read the details of the walk to ensure that you are able to complete it without undue delay;
  • bring suitable clothing taking into consideration the time of year and weather forecasts, especially footwear suitable for wet and uneven terrain;
  • stay in touch with the rest of the group by keeping in front of the organizer who will be at the back of the line of walkers;
  • inform an organizer if you leave early;
  • keep dogs on a lead;
  • take special care when crossing roads and when walking:
    • along roads without pavements;
    • on steep slopes;
    • on routes where there is a descent on one side as is often the case on coastal paths
Ffilm i hybu cerdded yng Nghymru

Hoffech chi fod mewn ffilm fach i hybu twristiaeth Cymru? Dyma neges oddi wrth Siân Jones <Sian.Jones@thinkorchard.com>, Production <Production@thinkorchard.com> o gwmni teledu Orchard. Os bydd gennych ddiddordeb mewn cymryd rhan, ymatebwch iddi’n uniongyrchol yn lle trwof i (efallai bydd yn werth ichi ddefnyddio’r ddau gyfeiriad e-bost uchod iddi)

Hello. I'm contacting from Orchard TV in Cardiff.  We produce some of Visit Wales' campaigns and are currently looking for a retired couple who love to walk, to feature in a new Autumn / Winter campaign.  I wondered if this group had any members that would be interested?  We would need to film for a whole day if not a day and a half, all expenses covered and the chance to visit some beautiful places in Wales. If there is a retired couple that would be interested, please email me for further information.  [Ac yn ymateb ar ôl i mi holi am yr iaith, mae'n dweud] It's an advertising campaign for Visit Wales rather than a programme. If we have Welsh speakers that is even better!
A film to promote walking in Wales

Would you like to be in a small film to promote tourism in Wales? Here is a message from Siân Jones <Sian.Jones@thinkorchard.com>, Production <Production@thinkorchard.com> at the Orchard TV company. If you are interested in getting involved, please respond to her directly instead of to me (it may be worth using both of the email addresses above)
