Communicating effectively is important for the nursing career in general and particularly for us as perioperative nurses, for patients and for the team.
We communicate with others orally and in writing.
Writing is an integral part of our daily lives and is an essential means of communication in nursing.
Writing provides an opportunity to share knowledge, to improve patient care, to learn more, to enhance knowledge, to promote and advance the profession, to be recognised and heard, and also to gain the respect of our peers.
We know that information communicated orally is not kept for long. There is a Latin proverb: « Verba volant, scripta manent » which means "Words fly away, writings remain". By writing, we reach a much wider audience for a much longer time. We all know that the vast amount of knowledge that has come down to us over many centuries comes from books. For Alice Munro "what is not written disappears".
Please remain posted and share with the European community of perioperative nurses via the Forum. The 10th EORNA Congress is being prepared and is approaching and here is a good opportunity to join, participate and share your experience with colleagues from more than 40 countries. We look forward to meeting you in May 12-15, 2022 in Stavanger, Norway.

The EORNA oral abstract submission has now closed, but it is still possible until January 2022 to submit your scientific abstracts for ePoster presentation at the EORNA Congress 2022 in Stavanger, Norway!

News from AFISO, french speaking or nurse association from Belgium

On September 11th, AFISO held its 34th Annual Congress. The theme was “Working as a team”. It was the first congress face-to-face since the COVID 19 pandemic. A sanitary pass, facemask and strict sanitary rules were followed by the 200 attendants. The presentations varied between surgical techniques, soft skills, algology and political actualities. Attendants and sponsors were very glad to be able to exchange face-to-face and reflect on their practice. AFISO 35th Annual Congress will take place on March 26, 2022. News from SIGOP-SIDOPS Switzerland

|
Our first webinar took place on June 23, 2021 on the topic : "Surgical site infections and different suture methods" and was a great success with 200 participants from Switzerland, France, Portugal, Belgium and even Reunion Island.
Our last training took place on October 2, 2021 in Lavey-les-Bains in presential with the collaboration of Johnson & Johnson SUTURES THEORY AND PRACTICE. Take care of yourself!
