Dear parents,
Sunday School is now part of a newly formed Family Education Day, which will meet on Saturdays at 3pm. The first day is October 9.

The day will consist of Faith formation (3pm-4:30pm), then dinner (4:30pm-5pm), followed by Vespers (5pm-5:45pm, where everyone present will participate through reading, singing, and serving).
Occasionally, we will conclude the day with board games or a movie.

This being FAMILY Education Day, while the kids will be receiving their Faith formation, the parents (and any other interested adults) will have their own Faith formation meetings with Father Aleksey. These meetings will be in the form of Q&A sessions, where we discuss any questions you may have; book studies; occasional movie; or any project we may have, depending on the season.

I understand that this requires another commitment (all important things in life do). All my children are signed up for at least two extracurricular activities, and I have to drive them around every day. That's the commitment we, as a family, had to make. Sunday School is a commitment that we are making and we ask you to consider it as well.

Looking forward to kicking off the Family Education Day on October 9!

In Christ,

Father Aleksey
Every other Tuesday, starting with an Akathist service at 7pm.

We are beginning to read a new book, "
The Religion of the Apostles" by Fr Stephen De Young.
This is one of the best sellers among Orthodox books at the moment. The book "presents the Orthodox Christian Church of today as a continuation of the religious life of the apostles, which in turn was a continuation of the life of the people of God since the beginning of creation."
We meet via Google Meet; therefore, reply to this email to get the meeting link.

Here is another new podcast. It is on leadership. Whether you lead a team at work, or lead a team at your parish, or lead a team of your family, this podcast is for you.

The Orthodox Leader: Helping Orthodox Christians be better stewards of their influence and have a greater impact on the organizations they lead.

Dn. Michael Hyatt is a former CEO of a $250 million dollar publishing company. After struggling to keep up with his tremendous workload, he developed changes to his productivity, goal-setting, and (most importantly) leadership, which resulted in great growth for his company - even during an economic recession.

Today he runs his own business that teaches these leadership skills and strategies to the secular world. But he is also a devout Orthodox Christian - a deacon, in fact - who has a burden for leadership training for those in the Church, both clergy and laypeople, who have to fulfill roles that require leadership knowhow. This is his podcast.

Facilitating these discussions is Ann Bezzerides, the Director of the Office of Vocation and Ministry at Holy Cross Hellenic College. Together, the two of them focus on equipping Orthodox leaders with the frameworks, tools, and resources they need to be better stewards of their influence and have a greater impact on the organizations they lead.

In this first episode, Dn. Michael and Ann introduce themselves and establish the premise for The Orthodox Leader podcast
.

Thank you to everyone who helped us setup and run the last Garage Sale to raise some funds for our Sunday School events. We raised just over $1,500!
However, we did not sell out everything. There is still a lot left. For this reason, we will be having another Garage Sale on
Saturday, October 2. We do not need to setup anything, since it is all already out, but we do need help during the garage sale. Most importantly, we will need a lot of help cleaning up after the sale.
Please volunteer whatever time you can to help us with the cleanup.
