Thank you

A huge thank you to everyone who came to the Lensbury on Thursday for the AGM and partnership meetings. It was great to see so many familiar faces after so long.

I was delighted to be confirmed as Chair of HEP and look forward to supporting Cormac in the months and years to come.

We took the opportunity of being together to thank our three founding directors and chair, Caroline McKay, John Norton and Victoria Eadie. They have given remarkable service to our community - playing a central role in getting HEP started and continuing to make sure it is focused on young people in Hounslow and getting schools working together and collaborating. A huge thank you to them for all they have done.

At the AGM Cormac reported on HEP's performance and we had a discussion around a ‘SWOT’ of HEP - looking at its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Colleagues shared reflections and these have been captured and will be used by Directors to start to map out our next three year strategy, which we will consult with you on in the coming months.

For colleagues who could not attend, we would love to capture your feedback, which you could do by clicking the link below, or by contacting Cormac to arrange a short discussion.

HEP SWOT

There was a theme around the future of the system and questions about structures in the coming years, which many of us (though not all) feel urgency about exploring. We resolved to host an open discussion in the next couple of months for colleagues interested in exploring this in greater depth.

With very best wishes for the rest of term.

Ed Vainker

Important links to surveys and free webinar

Baseline surveys
HEP would like to say a huge thank you to the schools who have already completed the baseline survey with their pupils and completed the online questionnaire.

All surveys and questionnaires can be accessed through the HEP Padlet

HEP would also like to remind teachers, who have yet to complete their individual baseline survey online, that they can access the link here – Baseline Survey

It will only take a couple of minutes and will really help to give Charlotte an insight into the reading practices of teachers across Hounslow schools.

Get Hounslow Reading Autumn Update

Workshops, surveys and webinars

The second round of workshops has been completed by Hounslow primary schools under the enthusiastic and expert guidance of Charlotte Raby.

Delegates have enjoyed reading the books that arrived in their schools last term and have already begun to inject a book buzz into their classrooms.

All workshop resources can now be accessed via the HEP Padlet and each group has been given a link to a book recommendation Padlet so they can keep adding their ‘sales pitches’ to be used with their pupils in class.

Teachers were asked to complete a baseline survey with their pupils to show current reading practices in their class, and to complete an online questionnaire to report back. We will repeat the surveys at the end of the programme to measure impact so it’s essential that these are completed. Please encourage your teachers to do this by half term.

The next free author webinar will take place on Thursday 7th October 7 – 8:30pm.
This webinar is free for all participants. For more information, please contact Nikki Gamble directly so she can send you the registration link and details about each of the events, and let her know you are part of the Get Hounslow Reading Programme – nikki@justimaginestorycentre.co.uk
