The outpouring of generosity in September to this Club has been amazing. Thank you, thank you so very much to every person who supported the Boys & Girls Club of Bluffton at the 17th Annual Par Fore Kids and the EPIC House Party events. We are honored to call you friends.
We could not be more proud of our Club members. From literacy tutoring to STEM experiments to new activities in The CLUB: Teen Center, each young person in this Club is creating a great future, one day at a time. It is such an inspiring experience to be in the Club and meet our members. If you have ever wanted to be a volunteer at the Boys & Girls Club, we invite you to sign up. There has never been a better time to nurture and support the youth of Bluffton.
Meet a Club Member: Caroline, age 7 "I enjoy coming to the club to play with all of my friends. The different areas of the Club mean a lot to me, especially reading times in the Literacy Center!"
The CLUB: Teen Center is a space created especially for teens, apart from our younger members. The CLUB is a comfortable place to hang out with friends, connect with caring mentors and participate in fun activities like sports, arts and volunteerism. At The CLUB, teens have access to resources and experiences that expose them to a world of opportunities.
Teens at The CLUB: Teen Center have started a new program: Goals, Purpose Future (GPF) under the direction of Teen Director Pamela Castle. She says, "My goal is to provide each member of The CLUB with self-knowledge and self-understanding in regard to their goals, purpose and future." The GPF Program focuses on career & college readiness such as SAT/ACT preparation, the importance of community service, financial aid (FAFSA), and career paths that do not require college such as the military.
In addition to homework help for those who need it, teens at The CLUB enjoy free time in the gym, movies & popcorn, trivia games, wellness activities, and even a debate team! An outdoor movie party is being planned, as well as spring programs such as Explorers' L.E.A.D., Dwaine Willett CareerLaunch and the Youth of the Year competition.
If you know a teen who may be interested in joining The CLUB, please call Lindsay Starnes, Assistant Teen Director at 843-757-2845.
A fond farewell - to Mr. Daryl Charles
Daryl Charles joined the Club as a six year old, back in 2005. Over his years as a Club member, he was active in the STEM program, participated in Explorers' L.E.A.D. and was president of the Keystone Club. After exemplary service as a Junior Staff member, he joined our team. Daryl Charles served as a lead technology instructor in addition to serving as the learning coach during the Virtual Hub for the third grade members, and most recently led the six-year-old Club members in our After School Program.
Daryl has joined the staff of Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Resort as an administrative assistant. We will miss him so very much, but our hearts are bursting with pride, knowing that he will become an indispensable member of their team, as he was on our team!
Best Wishes, Daryl!
