  • Blood Pressure (SEPT 10)World Heart Federation Roadmap for Hypertension - 2021 Update. YouTube Video from the World Heart Federation. Hypertension is the number one risk factor for death globally, affecting more than 1 billion people. It accounts for about half of all heart disease- and stroke-related deaths worldwide. Hypertension does not cause any symptoms on its own, which is why it’s often referred to as “the silent killer”. The World Heart Federation (WHF) unites the cardiovascular community and drives the agenda to reduce the global burden of cardiovascular disease and help people live longer, healthier lives. Together with our Members, we are working to end needless deaths and build global commitment for improved cardiovascular health at the global, regional, national and community levels. We believe in a world where heart health for everyone is a fundamental human right. • Healthy Hearts (Sept 7)Clean Air, Smart Cities, Healthy Hearts. From the World Heart Federation. In 2019, an estimated 6.7 million deaths, or 12 percent of all deaths worldwide, were attributable to outdoor or household air pollution.  As many as half of these deaths were due to heart disease and stroke. The WHF Air Pollution Policy Brief, 'Clean Air, Smart Cities, Healthy Hearts', highlights the need for policies and investments that support a reduction in air pollution at all levels of society, including cleaner transport, energy-efficient homes, power generation, industry regulation, access to clean fuels and technologies, and better municipal waste management, which can effectively reduce key sources of air pollution. • World Heart Day (SEPT 17)World Heart Day 2021. #UseHeartToConnect. World Heart Federation (WHF) video on YouTube. This year on World Heart Day, we’re asking the world to USE HEART TO CONNECT. USE HEART TO CONNECT is about using your knowledge, compassion and influence to make sure you, your loved ones and your community have the best chance to live heart-healthy lives. It’s about connecting with our own hearts, making sure we’re fueling and nurturing them as best we can, and using the power of digital to connect every heart, everywhere.
