CARRYOVER FUNDING OPPORTUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT

Submission Date:  Dec 1, 2021 at 5pm AKST
Awards Announced:  variable
Funding Period:  April 2022 - July 31, 2022

 
Alaska INBRE's primary aim is to expand the multi-disciplinary research and teaching network to support biomedical and health research expertise, infrastructure, and translational capacity. Requests must meet one of the goals of Alaska INBRE, which is to increase capacity in Alaska for biomedical and health research, including One Health and basic biomedical research themes. This award is intended to address one-time expenditures such as equipment or renovations and does not replace existing INBRE mechanisms. Expenditure deadline is June 31, 2022. Prior to award, requests will be sent to NIH for approval. No carryover is allowed.

This request mechanism cannot be used to reverse decisions from or replace other INBRE mechanisms.

Eligibility:  Must be a UA faculty member (tenure track or research) or partner institution researcher (ANTHC/SCF) when the application is submitted. Must have filed an INBRE report for any previous INBRE-sponsored funding.

A team of UA biomedical researchers have joined a federally funded effort to improve tracking of COVID-19 variants throughout the state. The NIH grant supports efforts to sequence and analyze genomes of variants circulating in Alaska. Participants include UAF researchers Jack Chen and Devin Drown, and UAA researchers Jason Burkhead, Cindy Knall and Eric Bortz, with collaborators Southcentral Foundation and the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium. Check here for the latest report
