Wellness is a difficult word to define. Traditionally wellness has meant the opposite of illness and the absence of disease and disability. More recently wellness has come to describe something that you have personal control over. Wellness is now a word used to describe living the best possible life you can regardless of whether you have a disease or disability. Your wellness is not only related to your physical health, but is a combination of things including spiritual wellness, social wellness, mental wellness and emotional wellness. Wellness is seen as a combination of mind, body and spirit. Different people may have different ideas about wellness. There is no single set standard for wellness and wellness is a difficult thing to quantify.

Here is a list of nine potential life goals to think about, and how they may benefit you!

NINE WELLNESS GOALS

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

I know that many of us have been affected by breast cancer. In fact, there are a number of Forever FIT members that are breast cancer SURVIVORS! So, this weekend will be PINK weekend and I will be playing a special playlist dedicated to the awareness of breast cancer, our survivors, our fighters, and those we have lost. I'd like to offer a donation link for you to also support a local organization, Living Beyond Breast Cancer.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I want to share with you this pink smoothie recipe packed with some of our favorite cancer-fighting foods. This pink smoothie is filling, nutritious, and high in fiber. The berries supply valuable antioxidants, the orange juice is a great source of vitamin C and the banana is rich in potassium. The yogurt is low in calories but high in protein. If you add the peanut butter, you will add about 95 calories but, it adds extra protein, which is a good idea if you are replacing a meal. This smoothie makes a great breakfast, lunch, or dinner on the run for anyone, and is also great for people undergoing treatment for cancer, whose appetite can be suppressed.

Did you know: maintaining a healthy diet that is rich in vegetables, fruit, poultry, fish, and low-fat dairy products has also been linked to lower breast cancer risk? You’ll find additional reading below that showcases the way our diet and lifestyle can have an impact on our health as it relates to cancer.
