A Next Chapter for APOST
Dear APOST Providers & Partners:
Thank you for all of your work in supporting and providing robust out-of-school time programming for children and youth in Allegheny County. This has been a very challenging year, and you have been resilient and continue to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for students.
As you may know, following a reimagining process led by the APOST Executive Committee in the beginning of this year, the Committee has decided that for APOST to continue to grow and support programs throughout the county, it is time for APOST to transition from its current home at the United Way to become housed in a new governance structure. The Executive Committee is excited for this next step and can’t wait to see what this plan holds for APOST and providers. We do ask that you hang in there during the transition; we expect the transition process will take some time. Although we will be unable to host a fall conference and other activities, we will re-emerge in the new year ready to tackle all the challenges and ensure that APOST provides strong support for out-of-school time programming.
During the transition process, the APOST Executive Committee will work with a new fiscal agent and hire an interim director. We will also establish new operations and provider committees to be sure that your input is front and center during this phase. Additional information, including how to participate will be provided soon.
Thank you for all of your support and a big thank you to the United Way for caring and nurturing APOST for the past 12 years. Stay tuned as we enter this exciting new chapter!
Sincerely,
APOST Executive Committee

Lights On Afterschool is Back!
Launched in October 2000, Lights On Afterschool is the only nationwide event celebrating afterschool programs and their important role in the lives of children, families and communities. The effort has become a hallmark of the afterschool movement and generates media coverage across the country each year.
Over the years, Lights On Afterschool in the Pittsburgh region has showcased and celebrated numerous programs who are doing extraordinary work with students. After a hard year of COVID, APOST hopes that on October 28th each afterschool and out-of-school time program will celebrate the resilience of students and families and the partnership you have with them.

Pittsburgh Learning Collaborative
As a response to the COVID crisis, A+ Schools spearheaded the development of a coalition of nearly 80 regional organizations and individuals across Pittsburgh’s learning community to create the Pittsburgh Learning Collaborative (PLC).
From the emergency school closures at the beginning of the pandemic through reopening plans and into the next school year in all its forms, the purpose of the PLC has been to serve as a coordinated asset to ensure equitable learning opportunities and resources for every student.
During the pandemic, the PLC’s focus was on increasing technology and internet access, improving family communications and at-home learning environments, and out-of-school time.
Connect to PLC resources.
