The Cello Museum Weekly Newsletter

Volume II | Number 40 | 2 October 2021

Hello, fellow cello fans!

Throughout October, the Cello Museum will continue celebrating our first year of being your online compendium of the cello, including articles, digital exhibitions, related images, components, and accessories.

This week features a special edition of That's What She Said...Postcards from Erica highlighting three works by female composers that memorialize the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

Be sure to place your order for the limited-edition first anniversary items in our Museum Shop - they are only available for a short time. You can even try your luck and enter to win select items - recipients are drawn randomly every Saturday through October 16. As newsletter readers, you are getting this extra reminder, so make sure to submit your entry!

Stop by our current exhibition, Innovations in Cello-Making Materials before the new one arrives later this month. In honor of Techies Day (October 3), this week's featured exhibition cello is one that was designed and 3D printed by Maddie Frank.

Our Cello Birthdays series celebrates cellists, composers, luthiers, and those with strong ties to the cello world.

Finally, make sure to read the note from our curator, Dr. Brenda Neece.

Thank you for your ongoing support of The Cello Museum. Enjoy this week's content!

Cello Birthdays
Our Cello Birthdays series celebrates the worldly arrival of those who are (or have been) part of the cello world, including cellists, composers of cello music, cello makers, and authors of cello books.

Let us know about any birthdays we should consider adding.

Please keep in mind that we highlight those who have media (videos, photos, audio recordings) that we can share online.
Curator's Note
Hello cello friends,

Happy October!

I enjoyed our meeting with author and cellist Gill Tennant last Sunday (and getting to see some of you online) at our September meeting of the Cello Book Club.

The next selection is a book written for kids that many adults will find enjoyable, too - The Enchanted Cello Case. We’ll get to speak with both the author, Hilary Wang, and her son, Julian, the illustrator. I hope some of our young readers will join in for that meeting and conversation.

Be sure to enter our prize drawing. I love notebooks, so next Saturday we are giving away a notebook!

We have lots of exciting things happening this month, and I’ll outline them for you in next week’s Curator’s Corner.

In the meantime, please stay well and keep in touch. I always love to hear from you.
