Join Civitas on Sat., Oct. 16 for a Cherokee Street Tour (& FREE Lunch!)
We have a very exciting morning planned for Saturday, October 16 from 10:00 am until 1:30 pm. Randy Vines, co-owner (with his twin brother, Jeff) of StL Style House is going to lead Civitas students on a tour of the eclectic, vibrant Cherokee Street in south St. Louis. Known for decades for its numerous Latinx bakeries and restaurants and an impressive row of antique stores, Cherokee offers many additional reasons to visit (and live!) there. Randy, a frequent and gracious tour guide of Cherokee, will share his knowledge and love of the area as a business owner; he also has community organizers, entrepreneurs, and others with a passion for Cherokee Street who plan to chat with us during our tour, including:

Ley Malone--career entrepreneur
Matt Brinkmann--Pianos for People organizer
Pacia Anderson--Love Bank Park creator and promoter
Minerva Lopez--Hispanic community leader
Kaveh Razani--Art Place owner and artist promoter
And more!

We will break for lunch about 11:30 at Taqueria El Bronco (click here for menu). Lunch for all participants will be covered by Civitas, so no attendance prizes for this event.

The tour will begin at 10:00 am at StL Style House (northeast corner of South Compton Ave. and Cherokee St. at 3159 Cherokee St., St. Louis, 63118) and end about 1:30 pm at StL Style House. Parking is usually pretty plentiful on side streets nearby.

Click here to sign up! Space will be limited.
(As a follow-up to the Cherokee Street tour, Parkway West senior and Civitas intern, Santiago Lugo Gutierrez will share his dynamic presentation, "Understanding Latinx & Latin-American Racial and Ethnic Differences" on Saturday, November 6. Stay tuned for details!)

UN Day Celebration on Sat., Oct. 23

The United Nations Association of St. Louis is hosting an exciting morning (10:00 am-12:00 pm) on Saturday, October 23 to honor the United Nations.
