Newsletter 15

This is the fifteenth newsletter of the iSTEPup Foundation. In this newsletter, we present you three new students; two of these students live in Suriname, a new country for iSTEPup! Furthermore, this newsletter contains student updates and the introduction of a new team member working for the iSTEPup Foundation.

iSTEPup in a nutshell
iSTEPup provides local scholarships for ambitious students to become a nurse, midwife, doctor or pharmacist in low- and middle income countries. In a transparent manner we aim to improve sustainability of basic healthcare by creating educational chances for motivated but underprivileged people. As many of our donors are international, newsletters are written in English.

New students

Three nursing students: Adriana from Tanzania, Nisha and Chanique from Suriname
We are happy to announce that three new students have been accepted to the iSTEPup programme!

Adriana Jeremiah is 20 year old and applied for sponsorship to enroll in nursing studies. Adriana: "After completing secondary school I volunteered at REDESO Bukoba Branch as a record assistant for five months. Here I performed different tasks such as clearing documents, receiving documents and maintaining confidentiality of the organisations’ reports and documents. I would like to study very much, to gain knowledge and make all efforts to study hard so as I can achieve my goals."

Nisha Ramnares and Chanique Read are two students from Suriname. Both applied for sponsorship to enroll in nursing studies.
Nisha: "The main reason why I chose the Nursing course is because I knew from an early age that I wanted to become a nurse and it has always been my dream to work with old people. It has also not escaped my notice that the teaching program is a very innovative method with an emphasis on understanding the material and applying it correctly, which certainly appeals to me. I am glad that I have been selected for a full scholarship for that I would like to thank you and your organization."

Chanique: "It has always been my dream to go in the future nurse college, but due to circumstances I have not been able to start the training earlier. Now that it has finally worked out, I am very very happy that I got in the results for this scholarship. This is a great help to me and I will certainly make good use of the opportunity presented to me to continue and successfully complete my studies."

Personal pages of these students will be completed soon!
 Criteria for new applications
Each year, iSTEPup receives a large number of applications from new students. In the past period we have received several applications from new students that were incomplete, or included a tuition payment due date within a few days or weeks. Unfortunately it is not possible for us to fulfill these requests.
If you are considering to apply for a scholarship or if you are helping a student with his/her application, please visit our website to check our criteria and guidelines for new applications! Please keep in mind that the iSTEPup foundation only takes complete applications into consideration; complete applications are discussed during regular board meetings (approximately 4-5 times a year), which means that there is a waiting period of at least 1 month after you receive the  confirmation message before a final decision is made and / or a payment to the university can be done.
