Hebrews: New Covenant

During September, I had the privilege of teaching our BCC the book of Hebrews. If you haven’t really read the book of Hebrews, I highly encourage you to read it. While this was so much fun for me, it was definitely a challenge for me. The week of Hebrews challenged me and the students alike with deep theological truths and I was encourage by different students who personally thanked me and told me they were encouraged and learned a lot during my teaching. I hope to have spurred each student to study the Bible more, and to read it through an inductive method.

TRANSLATING

At the end of September, we had each of the students prepare teachings from different parts of the Bible as their “final exam”. My main role was to translate each teaching into English so our foreign students could understand. While translating is not my most favorite thing to do, I am recognizing that it is something that God is pushing me to grow in, so this was a great opportunity for growth.

ALPHA GROUP

Me and one of my Khmer friends started an Alpha group two weeks ago. We had about 15 young people join and we’re so excited for what is going to come in the future. Each of the students are asking really good questions about life and Jesus and as the weeks process, they ask deeper questions. Last week we watched a lesson on “Who was Jesus?”. This episode talked about Jesus and historical events that line up with Jesus. A lot of the students were really interested. At the end of our time I asked them if they wanted to share anything and there were a few of the students that said if Jesus is real, then they will be so excited and happy knowing that there is a perfect eternity waiting for them!

PRAYER REQUEST

-Pray for the Alpha group. Pray that students would continue to join and that they would continue to be curious about the Gospel. I’m so excited to see that they are already so interested in this group. Please also pray for me and my friend as we lead it, that God would use us to bring glory to His name.

-Pray for our base. A week and a half ago one of our staff members tested positive for COVID and since then 7 more have tested positive. Those that live off base cannot go onto the base at all. Fortunately, it’s been almost 10 days and only two our of eight rooms have tested positive. We are hopeful that it was caught early enough and is contained to those two rooms. Thankfully all eight individuals have only had cold-like symptoms and are all starting to feel better. Pray for continued protect to the rest of the base. Please also pray for me and those of us living off the bas as we try to lead from outside the base.
