St. Francis Blessing of the Animals

Thanks to everyone who participated in Blessing of the Animals (both online and in-person) with their furry friends last Sunday!
View the comments on Gethsemane's Facebook page to see photos of all of the pets that were blessed virtually.
Pastor Gronberg and Dar Joy Krenek blessed homeless animals from the Austin Humane Society today out on the hill during chapel time for Gethsemane Lutheran Children's Ministry. They also gave them Gethsemane's food and toy donations. We are all truly blessed to be a blessing! Thanks to Erin Jolly and Gethsemane neighbors at the Austin Humane Society for sharing their commitment to dogs, cats and humans in the Austin community. Everyone needs a “furever home.”

Gethsemane Lutheran Trail of Treats

Saturday, October 30 from 10 am to noon
Congregation members and small groups are encouraged to sponsor a treat table for the children to visit during Trail of Treats. Decorate it and get creative with how to hand out candy while social distancing. Or donate individually wrapped candy, snacks or toys for the tables. We've invited our Gethsemane Lutheran Children's Ministry families and our Georgian Acres neighbors…so we need lots of tables to host all of the wonderful ghosts, goblins, princesses, and super heroes!
Sign up to donate treats or help with the event!

"Praise Pumpkin Patch" Display

This year, with help from the Gethsemane community, we would like to create a “Praise Pumpkin Patch” by decorating the memorial garden with pumpkins and other fall decorations. Please bring donations to Gethsemane by Sunday, October 17 to have the patch set up for everyone to enjoy!

  • Gethsemane Lutheran Children’s Ministry (GLCM) students will have the opportunity to visit the Praise Pumpkin Patch as a class during school hours October 18-29.
  • Visitors to our “Trail of Treats" event on Saturday, October 30 will get to take photos in the pumpkin patch from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Gethsemane members will have the opportunity to have their photo taken in the pumpkin patch on Sunday, October 31 after worship much like we do each year for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

3rd Graders Receive Bibles

Congratulations to 3rd graders Andrew Bassett and Mason Lundquist (not pictured) who received their bibles from the Gethsemane community this past Sunday! This annual gift from Gethsemane Lutheran nurtures children in their baptismal life encouraging families to read the Bible together as they grow in faithfulness and commitment.

Midweek Connections

Due to the pandemic, evening Midweek Connections at the church is on hiatus...but there are still plenty of opportunities to connect with members of the Gethsemane community on Wednesdays, both in-person and online!
  • Holy Communion Service: 12 p.m. in the Sanctuary
  • Fellowship and Conversation: 1 p.m. in the Steffans Parlor
  • Virtual Adult Class: 6:15 p.m. on Zoom
This fall the class is planning to utilize materials from the late Henri Nouwen entitled the Art of Living. There will be a booklet for this series on insights from a Spiritual Master. This is the 25th anniversary of the death of this beloved author and writer. The series embraces five of Nouwen’s essential teachings. Now more than ever, the modern day church community must speak a word to the world regarding the transformative power of the Christian proclamation. Persons interested are invited to speak with Pastor Gronberg.

Thanks to everyone who helped make Blankets of Love during "God's Work Our Hands" Sunday! This week Pastor Schnelle delivered a blanket to Gethsemane member Pat Greinert.
