Beacon Theatre Productions
Educate. Inspire. Challenge.
Dear BTP Supporters,

It is with mixed emotions that we announce both the closing and opening of a chapter for Beacon Theatre Productions.  Georgina Bard, who founded BTP in 2011, has decided it is time to usher in a new era for the company. The amazing Fairhill community production of A Thousand Fibers was her culminating project in the position of Artistic Director. We, the Board of Directors, could not be more proud to have had the opportunity to be a part of and support her vision all of these years!

For the past few months, we embarked on searching for and interviewing possible candidates for the position of Artistic Director, and we are excited to announce Georgina Bard's successor: Curt Himmelberger.

Below, please find messages from both Georgina and Curt regarding this transition.

We are forever thankful for Georgina's tireless work and passion this past decade, and we look forward to what the future holds!

BTP Artistic Associate and President
Georgina Bard, bids us adieu!

As I end my tenure at Beacon Theatre Productions, I am filled with gratitude for the many amazing collaborations with artists, audiences, and supporters I have enjoyed for the past 10 years. The impact of Beacon’s work was realized in diverse communities through the input and creativity of many committed individuals and partnering organizations. It has been a beautiful journey of growth and challenge for me. At this time, I am delighted to leave BTP in Curt Himmelberger’s competent hands as our new Artistic Director.

I look forward to seeing Beacon flourish under his leadership and vision as he continues to create impactful and accessible theatre in the Philadelphia community.

Georgina Bard
Founding Artistic Director

Beacon Theatre Productions

Thank you, Georgina, for all of your commitment and passion! And now, please welcome BTP's new Artistic Director, Curt Himmelberger!

A message from Curt:

The vision of Beacon Theatre productions is "spotlighting critical moments of the past to show the way to a better future."  I knew I needed to get involved with this theatre company when I read that and saw their productions that put this vision into practice.  I believe that the world needs Beacon Theatre Productions now more than ever before.

In 2021, schools across the country are banning teachings about racism, the world has been described as "the age of misinformation," and history seems to be repeating itself in local, national, and global current events. I believe we need to learn about the past for a better future.  I believe theater is a powerful tool that can change society.  And I truly believe Beacon Theatre Productions can change the world.

I am honored to receive the baton from Georgina Bard who has led this wonderful theatre company for the past ten years.  I have already heard countless stories about the amazing group of people who have supported the journey of the theatre so far (if you are reading this email, you are one of them!). I hope each of you continues to be part of this next chapter.  Please reach out to me with any questions, thoughts, or just to introduce yourself: btpartisticdirector@gmail.com
