AIA Tennessee in cooperation with the four local AIA components and TN NOMA chapters invite you to participate in a virtual learning series focused on Justice | Equity | Diversity | Inclusion in Architecture!
Steps Toward Inclusion focuses on ascending action toward inclusion through assessment of our personal attitude and sensitivity toward others, but addressing the systematic inequalities embedded in our educational system and by adopting a workplace culture which ensures support of diversity through equitable opportunity of success.

Day One (October 5): Ingrid Ross Cockhren will recap themes discussed in the 2020 JE+DI Talks. We will look at gains made in acknowledging the need for change in a predominantly white profession, and actions that have been taken to advance diversity.
Day Two (October 6): Faculty from area architecture programs will join us to discuss their school’s efforts to address JE+DI in recruitment efforts, curriculum and career services.
Day Three (October 7): Members from AIA’s 2021 Firm of the Year, Moody Nolan, will share their firm’s “Walk the Talk”, a presentation of best practices they have implemented in their corporate structure.
In October of 2020, the JE+DI Committee hosted a series of Talks over three weeks to begin AIA TN’s commitment to work with TN NOMA chapters to Acknowledge. Listen. Learn. Act.
JE+DI Talks are intended to bring together members from across the state to learn and have open conversations about institutional racism, the State of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in Architecture and the Promise of Diversity Equity & Inclusion in Architecture. Read on.
