Hi <<First Name>>,

As we wrapped up the first session of the year, I am filled with joy and appreciation for all the hard work that has gone into making Phoenix Modern the special place it is. Each studio is filled with young learners navigating relationships and new challenges. They have grown as mathematicians and writers and have shown curiosity with each new question and story they encountered.

So thank you for your care and partnership in this journey. We look forward to engaging further in the coming weeks and months. Please be sure to read all of the information below for upcoming events and opportunities as well as some photos from exhibition week!

Enjoy the session break and see you on October 12!

1. Pictures from Exhibition

Throughout Session 1, we asked a big question to each of our learners - We asked our Primary learners, "What does it mean to communicate? Our Upper Elementary and Middle School learners explored, "How do people organize themselves?"

What is a quest? "It's a journey when you are looking for something." - Learner, age 7

3. Insight into Phoenix Modern

Celebrating your Children’s Exhibition of Learning
This week we celebrated the hard work and creativity of the young learners at Phoenix Modern during our first exhibitions of the year.

At Phoenix Modern, exhibitions are the culmination of weeks of investigation, creating, and facing new challenges. It’s a chance to celebrate growth and demonstrate the artifacts of the new skills and knowledge gained. It’s also a window into the journey learners and their guides navigated together.

Congratulations to all of the learners and their guides for this well curated and thoughtful demonstration of learning!

4. Important news, updates, and requests

Construction has begun on the 3rd Street Improvement Project. This project will improve traffic circulation, safety, and mobility for pedestrians and bicyclists. The first phase of construction will take approximately three months to complete. Thank you for your patience during the construction. If you have questions or concerns please email Charlie.

We are a small team and look forward to connecting with you. Please schedule a time to meet when you have a question or concern. This allows us to prioritize you during the conversation and minimize the number of distractions.

  • Seesaw is the best way to join your learner on their journey and connect with their guide
  • Have a concern to share with our School Director? Send an email to andrew@phoenixmodern.org
We love to celebrate learners' birthdays! We encourage families to bring healthy and nutritious snacks for learners to enjoy at the end of the day.
  • If you'd like to bring in a treat, coordinate with your learners guide through Seesaw.
  • We do have food allergies on campus - please bring an allergy-free option so all learners can enjoy!
Lunch is a busy time on campus;
  • Ensure your learner has a spoon or fork if they will need one. We do not have the ability to reheat everyone's lunch - it's helpful if items do not need to be microwaved.
  • Labeling anything your learner brings to school helps us return lost items. Please label all water bottles, containers, and lunchboxes.
5. COVID-19 Protocol Update

If your learner is exposed to COVID-19, they should self-quarantine for 14 days following exposure. A learner may be able to shorten their quarantine:

  1. If they have not experienced any COVID-19 symptoms after 7 days AND they have tested negative for COVID-19 on day 5 or later of quarantine.
  2. If they have not experienced any COVID-19 symptoms after 10 days (without taking a COVID-19 test).
