Dear Campus Community,

We continue to provide transparent and timely information to students, faculty, and staff regarding numbers of COVID-19 cases and exposure throughout the ongoing pandemic.

A student living on campus who attended the hockey game in Robson Arena on Saturday, October 2, has received a positive test result for COVID-19. We have conducted contact tracing of known close contacts and wanted to inform the community of the possibility of exposure. In accordance with our public events policy, all attendees were required to wear a mask indoors and members of the general public showed proof of vaccination, or a negative COVID-19 test result upon entry.

We have changed the way we update the campus community when an individual receives a positive COVID-19 test result. Community messages regarding positive COVID-19 cases on campus will be distributed only if the individual(s) who received a positive test result attended a large event where complete contact tracing is not possible. In addition, our COVID-19 Data Dashboard will continue to serve as a central data repository for testing data and vaccination rates.

As always, if you experience symptoms of COVID-19, such as fever, chills, cough, difficulty breathing, new loss of taste or smell, other symptoms, please contact your health care provider to schedule a consultation.

If experiencing symptoms, students should call the Student Health Center as soon as possible to make an appointment with a health care provider: (719) 389-6384. Employees should call their health care provider. In addition to COVID-19 testing, the provider will be able to test for a range of other illnesses, such as influenza, strep, etc., to help you recover as quickly as possible. Please make sure to contact your professor or supervisor and work with them to explore accommodations.

Sincerely,

Maggie Santos
