Please click below for the flyer to find out more.

This information will also be shared with Geography Heads of Department via their Subject Network. Schools can sign up by emailing schools@interclimate.org by the 8th October. Schools wanting to participate will need to sign up teams of six to eight students from Years 8-13 to give a short presentation followed by a panel discussion and presentations from local councillors or members of the London Borough of Hounslow. On Behalf of Hounslow Safeguarding Children Partnership

New course covering Familial Child Sexual Abuse

HSCP would like to share the following information about keeping children safe.

In the UK we ‘miss’ most children who are sexually abused. We identify only 1 in 8 children at risk. This applies to Hounslow and we want this to change. We have asked professionals what they need to help them to keep children safe and they told us they need training as a starting point.

HSCP would like to offer training appropriate for professionals whose work involves children and their parents and is free to Hounslow public sector organisations.

The course takes place over 2 consecutive half days (see link below for date options).  Delegates must attend both half days. Delivery will be via Teams unless we are able to return to the classroom in which case it would take place at St John’s Road. We will of course inform you nearer the time. To reserve a place, please email your preferred course dates to LSCB@hounslow.gov.uk

Get Hounslow Reading Autumn Update

Workshops, surveys and webinars

The second round of workshops has been completed by Hounslow primary schools under the enthusiastic and expert guidance of Charlotte Raby.

Delegates have enjoyed reading the books that arrived in their schools last term and have already begun to inject a book buzz into their classrooms.

All workshop resources can now be accessed via the HEP Padlet and each group has been given a link to a book recommendation Padlet so they can keep adding their ‘sales pitches’ to be used with their pupils in class.

Teachers were asked to complete a baseline survey with their pupils to show current reading practices in their class, and to complete an online questionnaire to report back. We will repeat the surveys at the end of the programme to measure impact so it’s essential that these are completed. Please encourage your teachers to do this by half term.

The next free author webinar will take place on Thursday 7th October 7 – 8:30pm.
This webinar is free for all participants. For more information, please contact Nikki Gamble directly so she can send you the registration link and details about each of the events, and let her know you are part of the Get Hounslow Reading Programme – nikki@justimaginestorycentre.co.uk

If you have any questions about Get Hounslow Reading, please contact n.standing@hounsloweducationpartnership.co.uk
