Earlier this month, Lancashire welcomed the G7 speakers conference at Astley Hall in Chorley.  The sun was shining on Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP, Nancy Pelosi and colleagues as they enjoyed our renowned Lancashire hospitality and of course our outstanding food and drink.    

We are delighted to have launched the Lancashire Tourism Awards 2021, following a break last year due to the pandemic. We're delighted to once again be celebrating and honouring our Lancashire tourism stars.  You can find out more about how to enter below.

Lancashire Tourism Awards are back!

The biggest and only county-wide celebration of tourism excellence in Lancashire, championing the importance of the £4.4 billion visitor economy.

The competition reveals the brightest and best stars working in Lancashire tourism today, with many of the county’s winners then going on to represent Lancashire at the national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.

After the unprecedented challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic it has never been more important to honour our resilient and incredibly hard-working industry, who provide memorable experiences for so many.

Application Masterclass


If you are considering entering the Lancashire Tourism Awards this year then join us for an application masterclass on Wednesday 6 October at 2pm (virtual).  You will learn about the many benefits of entering the awards competition and how to submit the best application for your business.

There will be hints and tips and an opportunity to ask any questions you have about the awards competition.  A not to be missed event for all successful Lancashire tourism businesses looking to raise their profile.

The Lancashire Climate Change Conference
Walk to COP26


This event will be hosted at Winter Gardens Morecambe on Friday 22 October at 3pm.  The aim is to encourage those attending to consider what climate change means to them and what can be done to tackle carbon emissions.  

Sam Baker is part of a small team walking from London to Glasgow to highlight the COP 26 conference and stopping off at key points en-route to talk to communities about climate change and how they are tackling this crucial issue.  Tickets are free and open to anyone to register.

FREE fully funded business support 

Marketing Lancashire's Peer Networks Group will bring together tourism and hospitality business owners and managers to solve common challenges faced post-pandemic and aid business recovery and growth.
 
Hosted by an experienced facilitator, the group will learn from each other, gain insight from private sector experts and improve business performance.  Participants will also receive 3.5 hours one-to-one business coaching.

Review of Destination Management Organisations 

A review commissioned by DCMS has examined and assessed how Destination Management Organisations (DMOs) across England (including Marketing Lancashire) are funded and structured, and how they perform their roles, in order to establish whether there may be a more efficient and effective model for supporting English tourism at the regional level. 

The review findings have been published and Marketing Lancashire Chief Executive Rachel McQueen has welcomed the publication and issued a response:

'The analysis is robust and the recommendations are clear, DMOs are critical to the recovery and future growth of the sector'.

National Lottery Days Out Campaign
FREE opportunity
