  • Update on Buildings & Report Available: Let's pray for our parish community for healing, strength, and new life as we experience the closure of Saint Francis of Assisi (September 19) and Saint Elizabeth Seton (September 26). Recordings will be made of both of these closing liturgies, click here to view the closing Mass from Saint Francis of Assisi that took place on Sunday. The one taking place at Saint Elizabeth Seton this weekend is full to capacity, and our three regular weekend Masses are now 'first come, first served until full'. You may be wondering what will become of the church buildings and properties after the closures. We have had several inquiries and proposals come into the office, and the Holy Trinity Leadership Team is reviewing them. The building and property of St. Francis of Assisi will eventually be sold. The property that Saint Elizabeth Seton church sits on will be retained for the possible future building of a new church for Holy Trinity parish should we outgrow Saint John Vianney church someday. The immediate use of the Saint Elizabeth Seton church will be determined by the evaluation of the proposals received. We hope that more information can be shared about this soon. The Holy Trinity Leadership Team would also like to share that if anyone is interested in reading the 85-page report summarizing last year's consultation process, soft (electronic) or hard (printed) copies can be made available. For an electronic copy, please send an email to communications@holytrinityns.ca. For a printed copy, please contact the parish office to arrange printing and pickup.

  • September 30, National Day for Truth & Reconciliation: September 30th has been named a National Day for Truth and Reconciliation- a day set aside to honour the lost children and survivors of residential schools, their families and communities. Archbishop Dunn wrote a letter to the faithful regarding this holiday which can be found here. There is an open invitation to tune in for Mass (at 12:15 from Saint Mary's Basilica, in-person is first come, first served) followed by a rosary with reflections on the sorrowful mysteries. Here at Holy Trinity, we are inviting anyone who's able to attend to join the parish staff in praying the rosary at 11:15am that day.

  • Holy Trinity Family - We Are One: On the weekend of October 2nd and 3rd, we invite all who are able to attend Mass in-person (Sat 4:30, Sun 9 or 11:15), or online (Sun 9am) as we celebrate officially coming together under one roof. We will have a small reception following each Mass that weekend and we ask for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit, that we would be united and explosively alive. Lord strengthen our community through bonds of friendship, growth in holiness, and commitment to our mission. Empower us for the work of ministry so as to transform the world, making present Your Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.

  • Prayer Hour - October 3rd, 7pm: The Knights of Columbus will be hosting a prayer hour in celebration of Blessed Father Michel McGivney, the founder of the Knights of Columbus, on Sunday, October 3rd from 7-8pm. The prayer hour will begin with the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, will include praying the rosary (during which we will hear excerpts from a papal document related to each mystery, and be presented with a reflection on the mystery and papal reading), and end with benediction. Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes early for a period of silent reflection before we begin. All are welcome to attend!

  • Other Upcoming Events: Life Chain is a prayerful and peaceful witness to the sanctity of human life. Participants pray and hold non-graphic signs with messages such as “Life, the first inalienable right” and “Abortion kills children” at hundreds of locations across North America for one hour. This event will take place on Robie Street next to the Halifax Commons on Sunday, October 3rd, from 2:30-3:30pm (be prepared to follow all local COVID-19 protocols). 2021 Assembly of the People of God, our annual diocesan gathering will reflect on the action of journeying together as the Church in today's world. Because of current COVID-19 restrictions, the diocese is planning an in-person gathering of no more than 150 people. Plans are still in the works so please keep an eye on the Archdiocese website as more details become available in the weeks ahead.
