Music at the Library Summer Concert Series 

Join us for our final free concert of the season - this Saturday, October 2

  • Salsa-making demo @ 2:00 pm
  • Concert at 2:30 pm
  • Salsa & Chips at 3:30 pm

Besame specializes in music from all over Latin America, with emphasis on the sounds of Colombia. Featuring Jorge Delgado (guitar/vocals), Paul Cindric (soprano sax/vocals), Melissa Alliston (percussion/vocals), Roger Day (tuba/vocals) and Phil Vasquez (percussion) to bring you a surprising variety of Latin styles and rhythms – no standard salsa/merengue from this crew!

Show includes Salsa-making demo at 2:00; show starts at 2:30; salsa & chips at 3:30. Yum!

Autographs & Collectibles with Dad's Basement! 

Saturday October 16 at 1:00 pm

HOLLYWOOD, MUSIC & SPORTS: Sports cards, comics, Pokemon & much much more! Come see the wild world of memorabilia from athletes and celebrities. Join brothers Jake Berlin and Jared Berlin, owners of Dad's Basement, as they talk about sports collectibles and meeting famous people. Location: Swissvale Library, lower level.

Make It To Grow Kits

Monday October 11:00 am

Pick up your Butterflies & Symmetry Kit - Learn about art, nature and food justice with a Make It to Grow kit! Designed by artist-in-residence Katy DeMent, Make It to Grow kits are fun for all ages, and can be done independently or together as a family. Pick up a new kit every month at the Swissvale Library, while supplies last. New kits are available every 2nd Monday and the accompanying live Zoom class will be the following week. Grab & Go Kits

First Monday of the Month • Take-Home

Take the library home with you with a grab and go kit! These kits cover a variety of topics and are designed by our children’s librarian to encourage learning and fun. Two different kits will be available – one for preschoolers, and one for grades K-5. This month's can be picked up on Monday October 6: The Pre-K kit is Halloween Masks, and the STEAM kit is Pinwheel Power.

Baby & Toddler Storytime!

Tuesday mornings at 11:00 am

Join us for stories and songs at the library! Bring a picnic blanket - we'll meet on the front lawn when weather permits (in the library basement when it doesn't).

Minecraft Mondays!

Mondays at 5:00 pm • Virtual

The library now has its own exclusive Minecraft server! Every week we’ll be taking on a building challenge and testing the limits of our creativity. This program is best suited for kids in grades 3-6. E-mail Cece at caroc@einetwork.net for the server and Zoom meeting login information, and in your email please include your child’s name, age and Minecraft username.

Technical note: we will be playing Minecraft: Java Edition, which is incompatible with mobile phones or gaming consoles.

Thursdays at 4:30 pm • Virtual

Join Cece for Tween & Teen Time over Zoom every week! We alternate between games (with prizes!) and reading comics together. E-mail Cece at caroc@einetwork.net for the Zoom meeting login information.

Love Your Library Month Update

Many thanks to everyone who contributed to our Love Your Library fundraiser. As I write this, generous Swissvale Library patrons have contributed almost $16,000 for the renovation of the library, with gifts continuing to come in. Thank you, everyone.
