We continue to be under quarantine with restrictions but are able to work in partnership with many organizations to multiply the resources God provides.

September 2021 Photo Update

Dear <<First Name>>,
Much of what we are doing in and around Davao City at this time is related to support for the Tebow Cure Hospital. Transportation, housing, patient recruitment, ward visitation assistance....

This month, over 26 children are being treated for their clubfoot condition. Many are being transported and some are housed with the assistance of SOD.

Around 50 children are having life changing cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries each month at the hospital, along with follow-up care for speech therapy.  Orthopedic surgeries are ramping up and soon we hope around 60 a month will be having surgeries for mostly congenital or untreated conditions, such as broken bones and bowed legs.  All services are free for children 18 and below.

The REST House has been able to help several families recently while they are here for their approximately 10 week casting/surgery processes for their clubfoot treatment. Thanks to all who help support the REST House, truly a place of intentional discipleship.

We are blessed to give out many outfits when families are introduced to the hospital.  800 more of these beautiful shirts and dresses have recently arrived from Dresses for Orphans for packing and soon will be on the way here.

More of the small wooden cars are coming too!  They always make the kids smile.

What a joy to have these handmade cars too donated last week and coming soon here by December.  Gifts from the heart!

We are excited that 4,300 of the 6,000 Bibles targeted to be distributed through rural churches in the next 12 months have arrived. Some are already in the hands of followers of Jesus who have not had a Bible before and one too in their own heart language. For less than $3 USD a first time Bible can be given to persons is mostly rural areas.

In Leyte, boats continue to be donated and dedicated.  God is using the boats to establish centers for discipleship in rural areas. Many are coming to know Jesus!

More boats are being constructed and will be delivered in October. God continues to use and expand this ministry to help many families with sustainable livelihood.  Perhaps by the end of 2021 there will be 115 boats in use along with 70+ put put bicycle taxis.

We are excited as the boat recipients are joining Bible studies/churches and are soon baptized.

Feeding programs continue in rural areas through the use of OneMeal packets provided by CURE International.

School has started again but there will be no face to face classes allowed this school year in our area.  We continue to support college scholars with supply allowances and data loads so they can continue their studies online and with modular packets.  Two of the scholars are in their fourth year of college, three in their third year, three in their second year and we are still evaluating adding four additional for first year college in addition to the 22 students in Senior High School (grades 11-12) and 50 in Junior High School (grades 6-10).  A typical college scholarship is about $30 USD a month while a HS scholarship is around $10 per month.  Through partner organizations, SOD also has around 20 other students in scholarship programs, mostly at the elementary level.

God facilitated a divine appointment with an emerging radio ministry in a mountain area.  The radio station is broadcasting school lessons into remote areas with no internet connections, as well as gospel messages and Christian music.  We were able to help them recently with a computer and some broadcasting software.  While there, we also gave out some other items including a suit for a pastor, who has been serving 50 years in these rural areas.

We are blessed by the many opportunities God has given us to intentionally make disciples during this challenging time.  Cases are rapidly rising here and your prayers are greatly appreciated as we continue to do our best to work carefully to reach others for the kingdom.  Thanks so much for your ongoing prayers and financial support.

Serving together,

Peter Cowles for the SOD Boards and staff and the many grateful recipients of your prayers and blessings
