Dear Campus Community,
We continue to provide transparent and timely information to students, faculty, and staff regarding numbers of COVID-19 cases and exposure throughout the ongoing pandemic.
Five students living on campus have received positive COVID-19 test results. We have conducted contact tracing, which is essential to preventing the spread of the virus. Through contact tracing we notify anyone who may have been exposed. Exposed individuals who are fully vaccinated do not need to quarantine.
If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms such as cough, sore throat, fever, chills, headache, fatigue, loss of taste or smell, congestion or runny nose, nausea, or diarrhea, please do NOT go to class or work; stay home and away from others.
Students should call the Student Health Center as soon as possible to make an appointment with a health care provider: (719) 389-6384. Employees should call their health care provider. In addition to COVID-19 testing, the provider will be able to test for a range of other illnesses, such as influenza, strep, etc., to help you recover as quickly as possible. Please make sure to contact your professor or supervisor and work with them to explore accommodations.
Think you may have been exposed to the Coronavirus?
- Wear a mask when around others;
- If you’re asymptomatic, make an appointment for testing 3-4 days after the exposure;
- If symptomatic, call the Student Health Center and make an appointment with a provider;
- Contact CC COVID-19 Emergency Manager Maggie Santos (msantos@coloradocollege.edu) who will follow up as soon as possible.
The best way to protect yourself and our community is to get vaccinated. While vaccination rates are high on campus, risk levels outside of CC are different; remember to exercise greater caution when you’re away from campus or interacting with the broader community.
Vaccines are safe and have been proven to be effective against severe illness including from new variants such as Delta. If you have not yet done so, please get vaccinated now to protect yourself and your loved ones.
Remember: Everyone on the CC campus must wear a mask while in public spaces indoors, regardless of vaccination status.
Thanks to all campus community members for participating in the important contact tracing process. Students, remember that the contact tracing process is confidential and is in no way connected to the student disciplinary process.
We send a notification when an individual who received a positive COVID-19 test result has been on campus within the time range of contagion and may have been in contact with others on campus. The CC COVID-19 dashboard shows all known CC community cases, including our local off-campus students and employees. It provides quick access to COVID-19 metrics on campus and in the El Paso County community including COVID-19 exposure, testing, and positive test results.
As part of our layered risk mitigation system, we test a percentage of students, and conduct wastewater testing on campus. This allows us to quickly identify and respond to cases in order to reduce the risk of spreading the virus.
