Fungi, like these Eyelash Cups, are crucial nutrient cyclers. Although fungi are widespread and numerous they often go unnoticed because of their small size—these Eyelash Cups are only a few millimetres wide. Growing in dark, damp places like the forest floor they decompose and recycle dead plants and animals making the nutrients available for new growth.

This summer we added 2 new conservation easements to our list of protected properties, conserving an additional 736 beautiful acres. We are so happy to partner with these landowners to bring their property visions to life. Watch for details on these properties coming to our website soon!

Through the fall and winter we will continue to work with the landowners of 7 additional properties to finalize their conservation easements within the next few months. 

On September 15^th, we submitted applications to the Alberta Land Trust Grant Program to fund 5 more amazing properties. We won’t hear about that funding until March of 2022 but are optimistic that we will be adding those properties to our list of projects for next year!
