Natural Gas Meter Location Survey
With the residential construction world experiencing issues regarding densification, vertical growth and smaller building envelopes we are interested in gaining the builders perspectives on the challenges of finding a location for the natural gas meters. Enbridge will be using the survey responses as a baseline for our Builder Stakeholder Outreach Webinar on the topic in October 2021. If  you're a member and are interested in participating in the Webinar and reviewing meter placement options for all forms of construction including detached, townhomes, laneway developments, multi-res mid rise and hi-rise options please send a request for involvement to susan.cudahy@enbridge.com or michelle.vestergaard@enbridge.com. We will ensure you receive an invitation.

CITY OF BELLEVILLE - DEVELOPMENT CHARGES UPDATE

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR MEMBERS

The QHBA met with City of Belleville staff and consultants last week, for the first time since May of 2021.

Although the full reports - Parks/Rec Master Plan, Infrastructure Phasing Strategy and DC Study 2021 - have not been finalized and not yet available to the public, we believe we are looking at a potential increase similar to what was last proposed to Council prior to the interim rate implementation.  We've been told that these reports will be made available to the public on October 6th, as required under the Development Charges Act. We expect that a recommendation for an increase will go before Belleville City Council on Dec 13 with an effective date, once approved, expected as Jan 1, 2022.  We would encourage members, if you're able,  to put forward your permits ahead of Dec 31, 2021.

The Builder/Developer Advisory Group Chairs, and QHBA staff will be meeting on Sept 29 to discuss the perceived increase and will prepare a proposal to share with members. We should note that based on the work of our group (special thanks to Arnold Vandermeer) that there was a rate impact to our favour, as a result of Arnold's findings.  We will continue to provide updates to members on the information as soon as it has been provided to us. In addition, we have invited representatives from the non-residential side to join our conversation on Sept 29 as we work towards a collaborative approach on this issue.

More details will follow to members via email, and we expect the full Builder Developer Advisory Group to meet early next week. Please watch your inbox for the additional details as we look forward to your insight on this important initiative.
