At MyMeander we often talk about how the senses help us to recall memories in some form or another. Evidence and experience agree that sound - specifically music - can transport us back to a time in our past in an instant.
Music is the one sense that reminds us of the other people who were there too…
This song brings back two clear memories for me:
• My dad playing a record of Roy Orbison’s music in the 1970s on his beloved ‘turntable’ through huge speakers he’d built himself. Dad had a bit of a thing for music sung by dudes in black suits and sunglasses – he also really loved Johnny Cash’s music!
• Watching the movie 'Pretty Woman' in 1990 with my then fiancé, and then dragging my mom off to watch it too… what young woman doesn’t like to think the Cinderella story has some merit?
