Candidate Support Cohort Toolkit

We’re excited to share the new National Board Cohort Planning Toolkit.

This free resource is for anyone interested in designing a cohort program to help educators pursuing National Board Certification. You have access to planning tools to help in program design and facilitation, as well as resources like component planning guides and graphic organizers for candidates. In addition, there’s more information on funding opportunities to support professional learning for Board certification and the value of investment in Board certification for teachers, students and schools. These ready-made resources are not intended to be prescriptive, but rather to give leaders a starting place for designing a program and adapting as needed based on local context.

Network Yearly Report

Look for the National Board Network Yearly Report in your email on October 1st.  Each network is to complete the report and return it by November 1st.  We have done a full revision of the Network Development Continuum Rubric and will be announcing a recognition program for National Board Networks.

Update to NBPTS.org

In the Fall, we will unveil a refreshed version of the National Board’s web site -- NBPTS.org. The site will feature simplified navigation, enhanced search and greater flexibility allowing for future modifications. One element of the refresh that you should know is that many of the site addresses (URLs) will be changing. We know this change will impact you and are preparing resources to reduce the impact on your work. We’ll share more details soon!

Payment plan

Following on the great interest we saw last year, we will offer candidates a payment plan during the 2021-22 cycle. Based on lessons learned, we are working to make the process more streamlined and more user-friendly. It will launch in the coming months.

Candidate webinars and resources

Each Tuesday at 7pm ET, the National Board will host a candidate-facing webinar. Focusing on both Maintenance of Certification and first-time candidacy, all webinars are posted here. Candidates must register and even if they can’t attend live, they will receive the recording and resources in follow-up.

COVID allowances

We have updated the Requirements for Exceptions and Portfolio Submission during COVID-19 for the 2021-2022 candidate cycle. This page provides a summary of exceptions and portfolio submission requirements for candidates pursuing certification, or Maintenance of Certification in 2021-2022, or for those who deferred to 2021-22. Currently, we don’t have a deferral process this candidate cycle. As always, candidates can request an exception (pg. 12 of the Guide to National Board Certification or pg. 5 of the Guide to Maintenance of Certification).

NBConnect 

We are working on updating data and reports in NBConnect. Data will be updated and available for use by September 27. Report App users will receive an email once it is ready. Please reach out to Melissa Mays with any questions.
